A word from Scoop: Going to make this one a little longer. I had this done a while ago, but due to a crash, lost it. I left it alone for awhile (being my usual stubborn self), but figured you'd all be tired of waiting for it. Enjoy (You might want to check out chapter 19 again just so you remember what it is I'm actually doing here, lol)!

"H-hello?"

"Hi sweetie, what's up?"

"Oh, hi Tat. Not much, I just woke up." Jon sat up in bed too fast, causing him to moan. He saw the digits '9:30' on the alarm clock and felt a sudden twinge of anger flare through him for being awaken so early. But it was Tatyanna, how could he stay mad?

"What's wrong with you? Oooooh! Jared got home last night, didn't he?"

"Heheh, yeah." Even though it was just his sleeping sweetheart  and himself in the room, Jon's face turned a bright crimson.

"I guess the two of you were pretty, hmmm, how should I put this - busy, last night?" Jon could hear the mischief in her voice.

"You could say that, yeah." By now Jon was pulling on his robe and heading out of the room. He needed coffee. Hell, he needed a damned good back rub to work out the kinks, but right now coffee would have to suffice. For now.

"Oh don't give me that, mister! You two were basically apart for like half a year aside from a few brief encounters. You can't tell me you didn't break the bed last night."

'She wants it, she's gonna get it,' thought Jon. "Of course we did, wha'd'ya think, girl?"

She squealed into the phone making Jon cringe. He hated it when she did that. "To be totally honest... he was an ANIMAL! Oh my god! I thought he would never stop but, damn! That boi just kept going! I can barely move today. I don't know what got in to him but I hope it NEVER leaves!"

"That is so great!"

"I mean, when he entered me he just started going. He had to be ramming the hell out of me for at least, like, an hour nonstop."

"Jon! I don't want details." He could almost see her shaking her head, trying to keep from getting a mental picture, or even trying to rid herself of the one she already developed.

Jon laughed into the phone. "You asked for it."

"Well so-ree, heheheh."

"Yeah, yeah. Anyway, enough about that. I'm sure you called for more than to ask if Jared and I rocked the house last night."

"Actually I did. I was wondering if you had seen the paper yet today, but since you just got up, I already know the answer to that."

Jon sighed and turned on the coffee maker. Good thing he always fills it at night just before he goes to bed. "What's in there now? Did I get caught having a scandalous affair with Leo DiCaprio or something? 'Cuz I swear, he started it!"

"No, nothing so juicy."

"Damn, I was hoping for something fun," he replied sarcastically.

"There's just a small article in the entertainment section about some guy who claims to have seen Jared downing some pills in the men's room at the airport yesterday afternoon."

"Oh nice."

"Wait, it gets better."

"Joy."

"There's a little section there about how he was shaking and looked really out of it while the two of you were signing autographs."

"Of course, he was tired. He'd had a long flight and barely any sleep. You know they had him do re-shoots three times while he was in the middle of movie interviews and trying to pack to come home? He had a really bad schedule over there!"

"OK, OK, calm down Jon. You don't have to convince me. I know it's all bull, but I just thought you'd like to hear about it from a friend before you had to deal with it elsewhere."

"I know, I'm sorry. I'm just a little cranky this morning I guess. I haven't had my coffee yet you know."

"I know sweetie. I've seen you in the mornings." Tatyanna started laughing despite her attempts to control it.

"I'm not that funny looking in the mornings."

Tatyanna started laughing harder, which only made Jon start to laugh as well. He ran the fingers of his free hand through his tangled hair.

"Yeah, you're right. I am."

"You are too much sometimes Jonny. I must be going though. I have a studio session in a few, and you know how the execs are about wasting money."

"I know all about it girl. You go knock 'em dead like you always do, babe. I'll talk to you later."

"Take care Jonathan."

"You too."

Jared rolled over onto his back and opened his eyes. He noticed Jon wasn't beside him, and once his eyes focused enough for him to see the digits on the clock, he knew why: it was noon.

He felt very sore. Not surprising after the night of sex he just had. He was also still tired. But he knew why.

Jared sat up, letting his feet touch the floor. He opened the drawer of the nightstand and took out his little bottle of 'friends.'

'This should wake me up,' he thought to himself. He grasped the top of the bottle and pushed down so he could remove the childproof cap. That's when he noticed it.

"Damn I need a shower!" When he had lifted his arm, he got a slight whiff from his armpit. But then, six hours on a plane, several hours standing in the airport and signing autographs, plus a night of amazing sex does tend to make a person sweat quite a bit.

He placed the bottle on the top of the nightstand and slowly stumbled to the bathroom adjoining Jon and his bedroom. He turned the dial of the shower stall to the desired temperature - it was one of those single dial models - and placed a towel on the rack beside it. He was going to look in the mirror but he knew his hair was a fright so decided against it. He didn't want to see himself in that grungy a state.

Who says becoming a model can't make someone vain?

Jon instinctively looked up when he heard the water start to flow upstairs, then kinda laughed at himself. 'Like I can see through the ceiling.' He downed the last of his coffee and turned off the TV, tired of all the same ol' news and gossip that is always on the L.A. noon news.

The sound of the water against the shower stall floor changed, indicating that Jared had stepped in.

"Come to think of it, I could use a shower," said Jon. With that he practically bounced up the stairs. He went into his bedroom to enter the bathroom through the connection instead of using the main bathroom door since it squeaked. He didn't want Jared to know he was near him until he stepped inside the shower (luckily they have a solid shower curtain instead of one of those see-through jobbies).

That's when he spotted it.

Jon walked over to the nightstand on Jared's side of the bed and picked up a little white bottle. 'No, it can't be,' he thought to himself. He quickly turned the bottle around in his hand - which he noticed was actually starting to shake a little bit - to find the name of the drug contained within. The label said Erythromycin, but Jon has this bad feeling it was just to throw someone off when s/he opened the bottle.

He dumped the pills into the palm of his left hand. His hand was shaking enough that they moved around, separating themselves. He subconsciously counted them, over and over again as he tried to process what he was seeing.

Thoughts of joining Jared in the shower had vanished from his head, as had the hard-on that was showing more and more as he got closer to his just abandoned objective. He kept wondering if the newspaper story had been right and not just a nasty rumor. Wondering? Hell, he knew it was true. But how? Why?

"Jared's doing speed?" Jon was all too familiar with the pressures of a hectic schedule, he'd been there himself. Sure it was tough, but he thought Jared could handle it without resorting to artificial and illegal substances for an energy boost.

Anyone with either bit of celebrity status could pick this shit up as if it were candy. How he got it was not the question.

Question now was how to deal with it. He couldn't very well just walk up to him and ask why he was using drugs, that would scare him. And if Jared went on the defensive he'd never get him to talk about it.

Things were finally going so god damned good for the two of them! Why this, and why now?!

The sound of silence brought Jon out of his daze. Jared was out of the shower. He placed the bottle back on the nightstand and left the room before Jared had a chance to walk in and notice him. Jon knew he was going to have to deal with this soon, but he couldn't do it just yet.

"Babe, I'm off to my agent's office! I've got to sign a few things and look at some more movie scripts."

Jon walked out of the kitchen and saw Jared tying his left shoe. He had pretty much been avoiding him for the last two hours, always finding something to do so that he wouldn't have to spend too much time with him. He felt really bad for doing it, but he knew that if he were to be too close to Jared for too long he'd have to say something, and it just wouldn't come out the way he'd want it to.

"Already? I thought you had today off."

"Heh, you and me both. I called Martin a little while ago while you were out mowing the lawn. I asked him the schedule for tomorrow and he told me I needed to come to his office today. Said something about there being issues that needed to be dealt with and a lot of scripts and offers piling up that I needed to deal with."

"No rest for the weary. You sure you're OK to go? You're not tired or anything, are you?"

"Nope, I feel great," replied Jared with a smile.

"No jetlag?"

"None."

"Not feeling worn out from your schedule over the last two weeks, or maybe from last night?" He tried to put it in the best way he knew how.

"I'm fine, OK! I'm not tired, no jetlag, no sore muscles. I could definitely go for a repeat of last night right now, but I have to go to the office so it'll have to wait till I get home. So please, no more questions!"

"Sorry."

Jared looked back at Jon and saw the dejected look on his face. "I'm sorry babe. I'm just in a real big hurry right now to do something that I don't want to do. The faster I get to Martin's office, the faster I can leave and come back to you."

"I know. I guess I'm just disappointed that you have to go back to the grind already." Jon mentally kicked himself for lying, but then it wasn't really a lie. He was disappointed that Jared had to go, but that wasn't why he was asking all the questions. He was starting to confuse himself with this. He had to do something soon.

"Me too, but that's how it goes. You know that better than I can tell you."

"Yeah."

Jared grabbed his shoulder bag with his laptop in it and opened the door. "See you soon gorgeous. I love you."

"I love you too. Bye." Jared stepped out of the house and closed the door.

As Jon heard Jared's Durango come to live and pull away he asked himself, 'If I love him so much, why can't I confront him about the speed? I know I need to. It'd be for his own good."

Problem was, it might have been a one shot deal. Jared could have used the stuff just so that he could be with Jon when he got home. No, he needed to know a bit more about the 'signs' before he could confront him. He needed to talk to someone.

"Hello?"

"H-hello, Rob?"

"Yeah. To whom am I speaking?"

"It's Jon."

"Jon? Gonna have to be a little more specific, I know a few Jon's."

"It's Jon Brandis."

There was silence on the line for awhile.

"Jon, why are you calling me?"

"I need to ask you something. It's really important."

Jon heard a loud sigh through the earpiece of the phone. "Jon, by any chance does this have something to do with that little story in the paper about Jared?"

"Uh, yeah."

"Shit."

"Hey Martin."

"Hey Jared, how are you? How was Paris?" Martin got from his chair and walked around his desk to shake Jared's hand. He was a middle-aged man, about 45 years old. Jared had met him during his first day of work on the Seaquest movie. The director had asked Martin to meet Jared, saying that he was going to have "a booming career" and would need an agent who knew the business.

Martin knew the business. His 5'5" slightly chubby body held a shrewd and calculated individual who could out talk, and out posture anyone put against him. His bright green hair and nose stud put him at a major advantage in negotiations: most people didn't know what the hell to think of him.

"I'm great, Paris was... hectic. I think that's the best way to put it."

They shared a quick laugh before Martin motioned for Jared to have a seat in front of the desk and returned to his own chair on the other side.

"You see the paper this morning Jared?"

"No, Jon threw it out before I had the chance to read it. Guess he was getting used to living by himself."

"Or else he didn't want you to see it."

Jared's smile disappeared. "Why wouldn't he? What's in it now?"

"Nothing too serious. But I figured I'd have to mention it. There's a small article in there with some guy claiming you were in the airport washroom downing a few pills."

"Oh for - "

"It also mentions you being very shaky and agitated while signing autographs, and that your face looked pale and drawn and you had red eyes."

Jared had no reply.

"I understand that you were really tired from the flight and your schedule. But very, very few others do. This is being painted as a drug addiction."

Jared's eyes widened and he sat up straighter, as if to stand. Martin raised his hands and motioned him back down.

"Calm down a little kid. You gotta remember, this is Hollywood, it's no big deal. If you are using - and frankly, I don't care - you gotta keep it away from the national press. The L.A. Times is no big deal, people are used to it and really don't pay any attention to it. If you're not using, no big deal, it's dead already."

Jared didn't say anything. He just sat there, thinking to himself, wondering how he could have been so careless as to let someone see him take a few pills. Not like he was a user. He just needed something to help him keep up with his schedule. He'd been after this career for a while now, he wasn't going to give up on account of being tired.

"Hey, Jared! You with me."

Jared looked up to see Martin looking at him with a smile on his face. At least someone finds this amusing. "Yeah, just thinking."

"About the story? Blah, don't give it the time of day. No one will take notice if they don't think you've taken notice."

"Gotcha."

"Now, on to more important matters, shall we?"

"Yeah. Sure."

Jon thought it through, again. He'd been thinking it through now for over two hours, and every time he came up with the same conclusion: Rob was right. He needed to talk to Jared about this, it didn't matter if it was just a one shot deal or if he was taking the shit regularly.

'Wait a sec... why the hell didn't I think of this before?' He jumped off the sofa and darted up the stairs and into their bedroom as quickly as he could.

Jared's nightstand drawer was open and Jon could see the bottle laying on it's side in plain view of whomever wanted to look. He grabbed it, pulled off the cap as quickly as possible and counted the pills.

"Two short." 'That answers that question: my boyfriend is taking drugs.' Jon put the bottle back where he found it and laid back on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

"How the fuck do I handle this?"

"Then it all crashes down
And you break your crown
And you point your finger, but there's no one around
Just want one thing
Just to play the king
But the castle's crumbled and you're left with just a name
Where's your crown, King Nothing?"
