Chapter 9

"Jay, phone!" Mica yelled.

"Who is it?"

"It's Howie!"

"Hang up!"

"Jeremy, I'm not gonna do that!"

"Then you talk to him!"

"You are so...uh!"

"I love you."

"Shut up!"

"That had to be the millionth call from one of them," he groaned and fell onto the couch. Atchika hopped onto his stomach and laid down. "Comfortable?" he giggled. She yawned her reply and snuggled into his chest. Mica came in with the phone in her hand.

"That was so totally rude, Jeremy." He shrugged. "Howie really wanted to talk to you."

"Oh freaking well."

"You're acting like the biggest prick right now, you know that?"

"Don't start, Mica. I'm not in the mood."

"Oh, what? And the world is supposed to just stop for you because your boyfriend left you for a women and your other boyfriend is engaged to another man."

"Fuck off, Mica."

"You listen to me Jeremy Gavitts. The world doesn't revolve around you, as much as you'd like everyone to come rescue you, it's not gonna happen! Grow up," she yelled and stormed up the stairs, slamming the door behind her.

"I didn't ask you to move in here," he screamed at her. The door opened and she ran back down the stairs, moved Atchika from his chest and grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, pulling him up off the couch.

"I moved in here because if I hadn't, you would be dead right now. You're my best friend, Jay."

"Oh yeah right, you have Brian Littrell, why do you need me? Just as a little toy? Your own personal 'gay friend'." Mica loosened his grip from him.

"I can't believe you actually think that. That was so fucking cold." She whispered and left the house, slamming the door behind her. As Jeremy got off of his adrenaline high, he realized the damage he could have caused. He sank down onto the couch and bawled.

"I'm sorry, Mica," he cried, hugging his shoulders and rocking back and forth. His blonde hair stuck to his cheeks. "I didn't mean any of it." He got up and opened the door, Mica was sitting on the doorstep, crying. He sat down next to her, still in his own fit of sobs.

"I'm sorry Jeremy."

"I'm sorry." The two embraced as they cried into the others' shoulder. "I just don't wanna talk to anyone associated with Kevin. I hate him, Mica. I really do."

"I know you do but give the rest a chance. They're good people, Jay."

"Brian, this is insane, you know that," AJ scolded.

"I know but I'm sick of just sitting around. You can come if you want or you can stay here and help Nick keep management off of us."

"Just wait for like, two more days and the tour'll be over. After that, you wont be at any risk of anything happening."

"We're not waiting two more days," Howie said firmly.

"Are you gonna help, or not?" Brian asked. AJ sighed.

"I'll help. I'll help. What do you want me to do?"

"Distract Tony and David for us so we can get down to the lobby," Brian told him.

"Good luck, guys. Let me know how it goes."

"We will. Bye and thanks!" They both hugged AJ before he walked into the hallway.

"Tony! David! I think some fans are trying to break into my room!" The two bodyguards left their post at the elevator and ran to AJ's room. Brian and Howie ran for the elevator and disappeared. "Good luck."

Mica and Jeremy were sitting on the couch in front of the fireplace. It had started to snow again. They each had a book in hand and Atchika was sleeping snuggly between them. The fire crackled and hissed.

"Mica?" Jeremy asked.

"Hmm?"

"I wish it could just stay like this."

"I know what you mean. Maybe if we lock up the place and turn down all the ringers, it'll happen," she grinned.

"Brian, hurry up," Howie whined.

"Howie, man, calm down!"

"Sorry, I just don't wanna miss the flight."

"I know what it is, you've got a crush on Jeremy, don't you?"

"No I don't!"

"Yes you do! You're blushing!"

"Well you've got a crush on Mica so shut up." Brian and Howie glared at each other before they began to chuckle.

"We're really sad," Brian laughed.

"Pathetic."

The sun was streaming through the blinds of the living room. Mica opened her eyes and yawned. Jeremy was still sound asleep, clutching Atchika's little body. She laid a blanket over them and went into the kitchen to started a pot of coffee as a knock on the door sounded through the house. She checked her watch.

"Who would be coming over at 6: 43 in the morning?" she grumbled and opened the door. "Oh, hi Bri hey Howie." She started back to the kitchen. "Wait, Brian, Howie, what are you guys doing here?!" she demanded. They giggled.

"We took a leave of absence from the tour," Brian grinned.

"What do you mean 'leave of absence', Kevin is gonna kill you!"

"Screw Kevin, where's Jeremy?" Howie asked.

"Still sleeping on the couch. You guys, you only have like two more days. You could get in serious trouble for this."

"Stop worrying! Nick and AJ are covering for us. We'll be back on the plane tonight and in time for the concert tomorrow. Don't worry," Brian reassured her.

"I don't like this you guys."

"Do I smell coffee?"

"Don't change the subject. Howie can you go wake up Jeremy?" Howie chuckled as the two argued. He tip toed into the living room and found Jeremy snoring on the couch. He smiled at how angelic he looked. So innocent.

"Jay, come on, wake up," Howie gently shook him.

"I don't wanna go to school. Just a few more minutes." Howie giggled.

"Jeremy, you don't have to go to school. It was cancelled," he played with his head.

"Then let me sleep."

"I'll give you a cookie if you wake up."

"Do I smell coffee?" Jeremy sat up and smelled the air. Atchika jumped down onto the floor and sat in Howie's lap, yawned and went back to sleep.

"Yeah, Mica's making coffee."

"Howie? What are you doing here?"

"We caught a flight down here to see you two."

"We?"

"Me and Bri." Jeremy shook his head.

"What a dream." He stood up and walked into the kitchen. Mica and Brian were silently drinking coffee. "Okay, it's not a dream."

"Morning, Jay," Brian grinned.

"What are you guys doing here?" he repeated. Howie came in carrying Atchika. "And she's sleeping in your arms? The worlds gone mad!" they all giggled.

"No, just you," Mica chuckled. Jeremy groaned and hopped up onto the counter.

"Seriously though, how'd you get her to sleep in your arms? I'm the only one she'll trust. It took her weeks to get used to Mica." Howie shrugged.

"She just jumped into my lap and fell asleep."

"Huh. Maybe she's sick." Howie stuck his tongue out at Jeremy and kept stroking her fur.

"Anyway," Mica glared at Jeremy playfully. "How long are you guys staying?"

"Just until tonight. I promised AJ we would be back before the concert tomorrow. No doubt Tony and David are ripping the other three apart. We also promised we'd bring you two back with us," Brian looked at them hopefully.

"Oh no. Not on your life. I'm not going near Kevin," Jeremy growled.

"Come on Jay! Tour only lasts two more days and then you wont see Kevin. Please," Howie pouted, resting his head on Jeremy's knee. Jeremy shook his head.

"No, no, no!"

"What'cha thinking about?" Nick asked, sitting down next to AJ. His head was nestled in his hands, deep in thought.

"Nothing." Nick laughed.

"Very funny. I know when you're upset. Is it about Kevin?"

"No, but I think I'm falling in love."

"Oh, good or bad?"

"Bad, he doesn't love me back."

"And who would this he be?" Nick asked.

"You promise not to tell, Nicky?" he nodded.

"Please come back with us, Jay!" Brian pleaded. "We like having you around."

"Newsflash, you guys don't know me."

"But we know Mica and we like Mica, a lot, and we know that she's got good taste in people. Plus, Nicky's taken quite a shine to you," Howie told him.

"And Howie has a crush on you," Brian coughed.

"What was that?" Jeremy asked. Howie looked at Brian, completely mortified.

"Nothing," he sang sweetly, grinning at Howie.

"No, there's no 'nothing'. What did you say?"

"He said that he has a crush on Mica and he knows Mica wont go without you," Howie grinned at Brian whose mouth fell to the floor.

"That's not what I said! I said that you have a crush on Jeremy. That's what I said!" Brian stuck his tongue out at Howie. "either way, they're both true." Mica and Jeremy exchanged glances, both baffled by the this revelation.

"You're kidding me, right?" Mica asked. Both shook their heads.

"Can you excuse me for one second?" Jeremy left without waiting for a reply. He ran up the stairs to his bedroom, slammed the door, and locked it. 'Too soon! Too soon!' his brain yelled. 'I know god damnit shut up!' the other half screamed. "What am I gonna do, what am I gonna do?" he thought outloud.

"Jay? You okay in there?" Mica called through the door. He opened it, ushered her in, and locked it again.

"I can't do this, Mica."

"I know."

"I mean, I do think he's cute but it's too soon! I did this with Kevin and look what happened? I ruined AJ's life and Kevin's life and now I'm gonna ruin yours, Brian's, and Howie's life. I should NEVER have said 'yes' to Kevin. I should've just let it go."

"Jeremy, you didn't know any of this was gonna happen. You didn't know AJ and Kevin were a couple. You didn't know they were engaged. You didn't know Brian liked me. You didn't know Howie liked you."

"I knew Brian liked you."

"Well, that's irrelevant right now 'cause I like him too and I'm gonna go even if you don't. At least for a week or two."

"I wanna go, Mica," he admitted. "I do. But I don't wanna hurt Howie and I don't wanna see Kevin and I can just imagine how much AJ wants to kill me."

"He doesn't want to kill you. Right now, his focus is on killing Kevin so don't worry."

"Oh, that makes me feel so much better," Jeremy rolled his eyes.

"Look, do you wanna go or not?" There was an eerie silence in the room.

"I don't know." Mica sighed.

"Would you go if you weren't gonna see Kevin?"

"Yeah, I would."

"Then there you go. We'll leave with Brian and Howie, but we'll just head on down to Florida. Brian and Howie have a nice beach house and we'll just crash there."

"Alright, I guess that'll work."

I know, another boring chapter, sorry. Don't worry though. It gets more interesting in the next chapter or two. If you want to write to me : chords4@yahoo.com my e-mail is always open. C-ya.
