GRAND ENCOUNTER

Chapter One:

Outside the expensive club situated in London was a cue that ran at least 100 deep. The club was called the Clapham Grand and was a large converted theatre, three floors, V.I.P boxes and the upper circle. This club was owned by couple and a brother who ran the workings of it. It was Clive's responsibility to make sure the club ran and brought in the celebrities and let people know that they had the celebrities in the club. This was the same as any normal day except that it was a Saturday and people were in a hurry to get inside the club because of the whether outside.

Clive had left the first V.I.P box which he always had for himself to check that all was running smoothly, he made the rounds passing into the other 3 V.I.P boxes and making sure they had all they needed. Unfortunately that evening there wasn't anybody who was of high celebrity class, the odd small time actor here and there but nobody worth the extra little bit of attention. So he decided to head down the stairs and made his way to front of house which had 3 large bouncers and a female host (who had the 'specials' entry list). This isn't where he would spend most of his time but as nothing much was going on in the V.I.P section he spent around half an hour checking out the people that were coming into his club, after all he was the one who spent all the time there. His sister Rissa and husband Jonathan owned the club but decided after a year of running it that they wanted a manager to carry out the every day schedule of running a high class club. At first Clive had been apprehensive of taking it on as he had only just finished his degree in software engineering and had in the middle worked for the University as a computer administrator but took the job on with the logic that he could always go back to working in computers. Any way after he spent half an hour in the front of house he headed into the general club area...

********************************************************************* At the same time outside in the cue... *********************************************************************

"JC" Chris said shaking in the cold, "why exactly are we cueing out here freezing our balls off when we could just walk to the front, you know we'd get in!" "We are here for a fun time, we want to 'blend in' just like these Brits and they are cueing... so we will too" Lance had interjected and said with a slight smile on his face even thought his hair was not it's usual spiky self because of the light rain.

The three of them turned around to check if Justin and Joey were still cueing behind them, at first they couldn't see them but after a few seconds they saw Justin talking to a fairly good-looking girl, yeah girl, she looked about 18/19 but could be more than 16. Joey was also chatting with a friend of the other girl but she looked much older maybe around 23. JC couldn't help but laugh to himself when he looked at what they were wearing, I mean it was the middle of British winter and these women have been standing in the cold rain for over an hour now and looked as if they had on a belt and bra... except there legs must be warm with those thigh high boots they both had on.

As they started to approach the first sets of doors Justin began to get more and more agitated, Joey say this and motioned to him and even though no words were exchanged Justin knew what Joey was meaning... Justin had only been denied access to 3 clubs before because of his age but ever time it felt like the first time.

JC, Chris and Lance all made there way past the first bouncer and proceeded to try and work out the currency, handing over 10 pounds per person and in return getting a stylish little black rubber stamp on the back of their right hand. "JC I think that we should wait over there for them" Lance pointed to a secluded area inside the main entrance but before the 'main' club doors. All three of them made there way to the spot and waited almost hidden behind a rather large plant...

Joey stepped up and walked past the first bouncer who by this time seemed to look larger than he seemed before. His chest was pushed outwards and he was wearing a dark black jacket with trousers that looked a little to small in the leg, shiny black shoes and a long black trench coat. Next the girl that Justin had been talking with stepped forward closely followed by Justin. As Justin moved in the bouncer moved his right hand down just above Justin's waist level and proceeded to slowly move his hand up whilst at the same time tilting his head to left.

"Can I help you?" Justin said but not in his normal cocky manner, this time it was almost as if a small child had asked the question. "I.D" was all the large bouncer said with a hint of an accent that Justin could place. "I... I don't have any" Justin started to say in the same tone as before but then felt confidence hit him from nowhere, "but... you must know who I am. Don't you?" this time the statement wasn't a question it was more of a put down.

Needless to say the bouncer didn't take kindly to the way that Justin had put his point across...

********************************************************************* Up in the first V.I.P box... *********************************************************************

Now back up in his box Clive sat and watched as over 2000 bodies collided together in rhythm and almost unity down in the lower dance area. Up on stage was Dr.Glitter an act that Clive had invested in over 4 months ago. Clive wasn't sure whether it was Dr.Glitter or the 6 fine ladies that he had as backing dancers on stage, but what ever it was the crowd seemed to like it on a Saturday.

Suddenly a 'burst pause bleep' came through on the small compact size walky-talky that Clive carried in his left hand pocket of his jacket. He placed the small ear piece in his left ear and covered his right ear with his hand and heard as a heated conversation was going on at the other end...

"but... you must know who I am. Don't you?" "Yeah sure I do" was said in a sarcastic manner by John the new bouncer "but you haven't met the pavement yet... and if you don't move on pretty sharpish you will get very well acquainted with it!" John continued with a stern look upon his face. "You must have heard of us..." the other voice said but Clive wasn't able to distinguish who it sounded like, but it was definitely American. "Do I need to explain how this thing works again..." was all that Clive heard as a loud bang came from down in the main dance floor but all it was, was a party balloon popping.

Clive had heard enough and decided to go and help out the new guy at front of house, he had know that he was inexperienced when Clive took him on but there was something that told him that he would be alright, and from what he had heard from the conversation he wasn't going to back down and that was good. But, they couldn't afford for any blood to be shed at this time so he started to make his way down the stairs and out of the main dancing area. He pushed open the large double wooden door and could see John standing out front in heated debate with two guys, as he moved closer he could be sure but he knew that he had seen them somewhere before...

"I'm telling you my name is Justin and I'm from NSYNC!" was all that could be heard as Justin shouted it to the whole of the street. At this point Clive had made his way up behind John who looked as if he was about to through the first punch when suddenly he was pushed to the side by three other guys who all proceeded to grab onto John by different part. The blond one grabbed Johns right arm which was drawn backwards already, the largest of the three had moved in front of John in-between Justin and him and placed his hands on the large bouncers chest, finally the athletic framed man with well defined bone structure had jumped on Johns back and wasn't doing anything except adding to the weight that the larger man was already carrying.

Julie rushed over to aid Clive getting up and began to shout to the other two bouncers to have all five of the men removed instantly, but Clive raised his right hand and motioned for the other two to hold fast. Now on his feet he stepped forward and lightly tapped the man that was still holding on for dear life on John's back.

"Josh" JC turned his head backwards not recognising the voice and was met with a smile from a tall man standing directly behind him and the bouncer that he was holding on to. "yes... how do you know my name?" "I believe that Justin over there told the whole town who you are!" "oh right, yeah" was all JC said before turning his head around and continued to hold on to the John. "Josh do you think you can let go of my bouncer there?" Clive asked almost quizzically. JC turned his head again, but this time with a different expression on his face, the sort that made Clive almost fear that he was going to be driven into the ground by this adonis in-front of him. "You mean this oaf works for you!" JC stated with an angry tone in his voice.

Clive moved round to the side of John without answering JC and just stared at the now half slumped over bouncer. John turned his head and looked as if he was having breathing problems but as soon as he saw the death stare that he was receiving from his new employer he knew that he had to give in and relaxed all of his body, going fully limp and moving his hands down to his sides.

"Would you all let go of John here" Clive stated firmly but not aggressively to the 3 guys that were hanging on to John but not very effectively now that the large man hand become motionless.

JC was the first to move off and then both Chris and Lance let go at the same time. John turned towards his employer and was trying to work out what was going on in his mind, I mean he had only been trying to do his job and here he was taking sides with some one he didn't even know.

"Let these gentlemen past John" was all that was said between the two of them before JC interrupted the conversation...

"what do you mean let us past, you expect us to go into there now that we have been manhandled at the front door by this large oaf of yours!" this was directed straight at Clive who repositioned himself to face directly into JC's eyes. "Do you want me to fire him?" Clive said with a slight laugh in his undertone... "I hate to say it but I don't think that he would recognise you, you see he isn't into you music, not like me" he continued to say was a slight smile cropping up on his face.

Justin stepped up next to Clive and looked at JC before looking back at Clive "Would I be allowed in?" was all he asked in the same voice that he had started his conversation off with 'John' earlier on.

Again repositioning him self to face Justin this time he looked towards him but not the same as he had done with JC and stated "I don't think that would be a problem Justin..." "In that case can we get in from the rain my hair is getting wet AGAIN" was all that Lance had said in an almost farther figure like tone. Turning one last time towards JC, Clive just looked at him and lifted his eyebrow and that was all that was said, JC burst out laughing and all 6 of them moved in past the bouncer.

"Julie... make sure he's not working again after tonight" was said quietly as Clive stepped passed her, "Now gentlemen, sorry for that inconvenience, I'm afraid all the V.I.P boxes are taken, that is unless you would like to share mine with me" Clive now said directly at the 5 other men walking into the club with him.

"I don't know" was all that JC could say before the other 4 said almost in unison "SURE!".

With that the JC just agreed and the 6 men made there way along the left of the club until they made it to some step and were again greeted by another bouncer who let them past with no attempt of stopping them, after hearing what had gone on outside through his earpiece. Up in the first box the 5 men were led to a seating area overlooking the club down below.

"Oh my god" Joey exclaimed as he saw for the first time the mass of movement down in the general public area, "I can't believe the view you get from up here, you can see all the fine women, and I mean fine!" he said with a grin on his face Clive just laughed to himself and turned to them asking what they would like to drink and then proceeded to order the drinks over the walky-talky that he still had in his ear but with the volume turned down.

"So I better introduce myself, my name is Clive and I am the manager of this fine establishment" he said with a faint laugh "I don't own the club but my sister and brother-in-law do... I'm sorry about the incident out front, it won't happen again, if there is anything" he started to say in an apologetic manner before someone cut in "don't sweat about it, after all I should be the one saying I'm sorry for shouting at you" JC said looking up again at the taller man standing in-front of him and smiled coyly. Just as he was about to receive a reply the door opened and in steep Sarah and Claire two of the box waitresses, they were carrying 1 pitcher of plain orange juice, another of larger, another vodka and orange, and finally a smaller pitcher of jack 'D' and coke. Placing the jugs down on the small table next to a chiller cabinet Sarah stepped out the room and then returned with a bottle of the house champagne and proceeded to open it, there was with a loud 'pop', and Sarah placed the open bottle into a cooler stand next to the other drinks. Claire then pointed at the drinks and said that if there was anything else that any of them wanted (anything at all) all they had to do was pick up the phone in the corner and just ask. They both moved back towards the door before turning around and exiting the same way as they had entered.

"Joey you can close your mouth now" was all Justin could say before breaking down into a fit of laughter, and was followed by both Lance and Chris. Joey looked at the floor and then back up before turning his head back towards the dance floor.

Up on stage Dr.Glitter was shaking his stuff and then on came the 6 beauties and as usually they were lightly clad in clothing and definitely knew how to dance erotically. By now all the guys had moved to the ledge and were looking down at an angle at the 20 minute show that was going on, all except JC and Clive who just sat and stood respectively behind the 4 others. Clive constantly listening and then talking into his radio mic for several minutes then turned his head towards where JC was sitting and noticed him looking up at him. Smiling slightly because Clive had always wanted to meet the group but especially Josh because he had always had a crush on him ever since he had heard 'Sailing', it was his voice it was so pure very defined in its tone and unmistakable. Just as he was about to ask Josh a question Justin turned round and exclaimed how talented the girls were before blushing and then firing his attention at JC who wasn't listening but still looking up at Clive.

"JC are you Ok?" Justin asked with a mixed tone in his voice. Not one of anger but hurt mixed in with an questioning tone. "You what" was all JC said before turning around to face Justin. "I said are you Ok, how much you had to drink any way?" Justin said this time with a lighter tone and slightly laughing to himself at the end of his statement. "Yeah what ever" was the reply he got. "Can I talk to you alone?" JC said this time directing his question towards Clive. "Sure we can step outside if you want..." Clive said again raising his eyebrow slightly before lifting his left arm and gesturing towards the door.

Lance had noticed that the box was slightly emptier that it had been earlier in the evening but didn't think that he should say anything to the other 3 especially as he didn't know what was up with it so he just sat back down in the chair that JC had occupied. Lifting up the pitcher of vodka and orange Lance filled up his glass again and before he new it the jug was empty along with the other jugs on the table.

"Guys have you seen how much we have drunk?" Lance said looking at all the empties left and then turned towards the empty champagne bottle before letting out a giggle. "Wow we really drank all that, christ I wonder how much it's going to cost us, I saw the prices they were charging for a single vodka, 6 pound and that was on it's own..." Justin said looking around the room also. "I don't know about you but I think that we should order some more drinks, because those women were definitely hot and I know that you wouldn't mind them coming back in here and keeping us company, well all except you!" Joey said pointing towards the group in front of him. "FUCK YOU JOEY" Justin said with a raised voice "Hold on man I didn't mean it like that, and I was directing it at you anyway. Just chill and have fun" Joey retorted making Justin back down.

Just then Clive and JC returned by now it was 2:30 in the morning and the club shut at 3:00 so Clive excused himself from the others and said that if they were around they would all be welcome back anytime. Looking at JC he turned himself around and headed out the room and back to the front of house to keep charge down there. By now John was nowhere to be seen and he could see his radio equipment sitting on the desk in the corner which meant that Julie had followed his demand earlier on in the evening.

********************************************************************* Back in the V.I.P box... *********************************************************************

"Where have you been?" Justin shot a glare towards JC. "Just outside talking about this and that" was JC reply but that didn't go down to well with Justin who carried the questioning on. "What to you mean just talking. Talking about what! About you, about me, about us!" Justin said getting gradually louder. "No, if you must know about the club and all that stuff" JC said still cool and not letting the tone that Justin had given towards him provoke him. "Cool man what sort of stuff did he tell ya?" Chris has stepped in see that Justin was about to ask another question which he knew would only force JC to loose his temper. JC turned towards Chris avoiding making contact with Justin, "He told me that he felt sorry about the event at the door this evening with Justin" this time shooting a glare at Justin and returning to Chris "and he said that to make up for it, the evening is on him, or at least on the club. "Dam told ya we should have got some more of the champagne they put out..." was all that Joey could add to the conversation whilst pulling a face that made all except Justin start to laugh.

********************************************************************* At front of house... *********************************************************************

Julie walked up behind Clive who was watching as people slowly stated to move out of the club, it always amazed him why the cue for the toilet was so long just before the end of the evening looking at all the women talking about their achievements of that night and this and that. Deep in thought over this interesting situation Clive didn't notice Julie put her head on his upper arm (because of his 6'6" height she couldn't reach his shoulder even thought she was 5'11" with heals on).

"What was all that about earlier on this evening with John, you know you shouldn't have been so hard on him. He was doing what you pay him for!" Julie said in a quiet tone.

"I know I shouldn't have been so dismissive. Did you fire him?" I replied equally quietly so that I wouldn't show that I thought that I had made mistake.

"Did you want me to?" was all she said now looking up at him. All Clive did was shake his head slowly instead of replying her this time unaware of what she would say.

"Good I told him to take the week off and come back to work next Saturday. Oh and by the way you gave him paid leave for being such an ass!" she said this giggling to her self before resuming her power like posture that she always kept whilst working.

As the time approached 3:00am all the workers got into mode preparing to through all those left in the club out on the dot. This was quite a feet considering that there was around 1000 people still left but they generally emptied the house by 3:10. The clock turned 3:00 and Clive spoke into his sleeve into the small mic and informed all the staff (who all had to wear a radio) that it was time. The bar shut the music stopped and Dr.Glitter thanked all of them for staying till the end and reminded them to come back again same time next week. Up in the boxes Sarah and Claire went into all the V.I.P boxes and showed them the exits and then locked the doors to stop people from re-entering without them knowing. They reached Clive's box and led NSYNC to the stairs and said that Clive would like to speak to them before they left and then smiled one last time before carrying on with their clean up duties.

JC was first down the stairs followed closely by Justin, Lance, Chris and finally Joey (who had made it his mission to get both girls phone numbers before leaving). They made there way along the right hand side of the club the same side as they had entered but in the other direction and noticed that all the other people were being herded out the other side of the club. When they got to the big wooden doors it took both JC and Justin to push them open and they all stepped into the main entrance of the building. JC pointed at Clive who by now was on his own again as Julie had to go and sort out a disturbance outside with some youths. Clive stepped forward and moved his hand out to shake JC first but was surprised to receive a hug from him and then from all the others except from Justin who just stared at him before extending his own hand and shaking it with Clive's.

"Nice to meet you guys and if you are ever around do come back and visit." Clive said not singling out any individual.

"Nice one" Chris said looking at the others for their approval.

"We better be going now, nice to meet you Clive and great place you run here. Thanks for the drinks and all, if there is anything we can do for you just ring the hotel and say you want to speak to.." Joey looked around before saying the rest really quietly "Mickey Mouse" Clive couldn't contain himself and just started to laugh out loud in front of hundreds of people. "Alright then but what hotel are staying at?" "The Ritz" they all said again quietly. Then started to laugh again at what their secret password was this time round.

Just then a limo pulled up outside the entrance and Clive looked over to Julie who was smiling wide showing all of her perfect teeth. He turned around and tilted his head to the guys and gestured his hand towards the limo.

"You ride awaits sirs, on the house of course" Clive said before chuckling to himself. "Are you sure we were going to grab a taxi back to the hotel... you don't have to do this if you haven't got a ride home" JC said looking at Clive with a childish look on his face. "Don't worry I have my BMW out back, you guys enjoy the Rolls, it's a nice car and you should all be asleep by the time you get back to the hotel, you know it's a 15 minute ride from there..." "15 minutes that bloody taxi took over 40 minutes to get us here" Lance said looking at the others and Clive just started to laugh again.

"I got to go and work now, but again nice to meet you." Clive said before turning towards the door and walked the 5 of them past the crowds that were gathering around the car and it took 4 bouncers to keep the path clear.

All five got into the car JC being last who turned to Clive and mouthed "Thankyou" before ducking his head inside the plush limo and sitting back. Clive closed the door and turned around as the limo moved off.

TBC

I know that there was not much sex or anything of this kind here but we have to set the scene don't we :)
