Chapter 1
"God dammit!" Brian cursed as he spilled scalding hot coffee on himself.
He bounced around fanning himself for a moment trying to cool the burn.
"Collins, why the hell aren't you out front?!" his boss barked in that loud demanding voice that never failed to bug the hell out Brian.
"Sir..." he trailed off gesturing to his steaming, coffee stained shirt.
It was originally white but was now currently sporting a hideous brown blotch down the middle.
"So?" his boss snapped, " This is a coffee shop not a fashion show!"
Brian knew arguing at that point was pointless. His boss was a stubborn asshole of a man who was known to fire people at the drop of a hat and Brian couldn't afford that. He needed this job more than anything.
He approached the counter with gritted teeth hoping the customers today weren't difficult.
"Hi welcome to The Spot what can I get for you today?"
"Um can I get a orange juice and a blueberry muffin?"
"Sure that'll be-"
"No wait, make that with a glazed donut."
Brian ground his teeth tighter together and obediently changed the order., "Ok um that comes out to-"
"I'll have the blueberry muffin instead I guess ....or maybe both"
Brian sighed. It was shaping up to be a long day.

Four hours later Brian was practically dead on his feet and more than ready to get home. He only had a half hour of work left and was impatiently counting the seconds. He was starting to consider just sneaking out and going home when something or rather someone caught his eye. Standing in front of a magazine rack was perhaps the most beautiful and breathtaking man Brian had ever seen. Brian mentally scolded himself at how cliche it sounded and tried to think of another way to describe him but simply...couldn't.
Handsome- that implied an older rugged look and this man was to...elegant.
Lovely- that implied a sense of fragility or delicacy and the man wasn't any of those
Perfect- that implied the man was prefer and a man with without flaws was simply boring.
No...beautiful, breathtaking those were the words to describe this man. He turned and Brian realized in a slight panic that he was approaching the counter. Brian began to toy with the bottom of his shirt and fought to stay calm. He hoped he didn't make a complete idiot out of himself. He had always been awkward around attractive men. When the man reached the counter Brian opened his mouth to speak and continued to let it dangle like a fool as he lost himself in the mans eyes. He knew he should say something and he knew he was making a horrible impression. But he'd never seen such amazing eyes. Green with little flecks of gold in them making it appear as if the sparkled. They were completely radiant. Finally Brian realized the man was saying something.
"Hey are you alright?"
"um what?"
"You kind of zoned out there for a minute. Are you alright?" The man asked, clearly concerned.
"Um yeah, yeah. Sorry" Brian said with a sheepish smile, feeling a little more in control of himself.
"Don't worry about it. So...Brian, what's good here?"
"You know my name!" Brian blurted.
"Uh yeah, your name tag" The man said pointing to Brian's chest.
"Oh, yeah, I'm Brian." God he should just put some duck tape over his mouth.
"Well it's nice to meet you, Brian, I'm Wes." he said with an amused smile.
"um yeah, you too." Brian mumbled.
"So what would you recommend I order."
"Well I'd recommend going to the coffee shop down the street."
Wes laughed and it was perhaps the sweetest sound he'd ever heard.
"But then I'd probably lose my job so I'd guess I'd have to say the Caramel Macchiato"
"Then Caramel Macchiato it is then."
"Ok then, that comes out to $3.99 and I'll be right back with your drink."
"Ok" Wes said with a smile almost as gorgeous as his eyes.
Brian fixed the drink, careful not to spill any, and returned. "Here ya go."
He almost didn't want to give Wes the drink because once he did he wouldn't have an excuse to keep him here.
"Thanks." Wes said sliding the money across the counter. He then turned and walked away a little quicker than Brian would have liked but he supposed Wes had better things to do than stand around talking to him.
As he was unfolding the money something white fluttered to the floor. Brian bent down to throw it away but when he picked it up he realized someone had taken the time to fold it. His heart sped up a bit as he unfolded the paper. The first thing that caught his eye was the writing. It looked like it was done in a hurry. The second thing that caught his eye was the words.
_Brian,
I feel like an idiot doing this, but I'd feel like an even bigger idiot if I didn't. So I was wondering if you'd like to go out sometime. Give me a call, 555-7823
-Wes
Holy shit
