Immortal Love Chapter 2

Jay had only stopped long enough to let Ann out at the motel.

There was no reason to give her any instructions. By the next morning she would have the team here and they would all be updated to know what the assignment was.

They had been through this before.

Beep..........beep..........beep..........beep........

The hospital staff didn't give Jay any trouble when he got there.

They nurse on duty walked Jay to Chris' room and left him there.

Jay was looking at the boy but seeing someone else.

They looked so much alike. He hadn't expected that.

He stood there for a bit just staring at Chris hooked up to the machines and IV's.

The boy's face was bruised badly.

There were deep gashes and scrapes all over his face and arms.

Jay walked over to the bed and put his hand on Chris' hand.

He could feel the warmth coming off of the boy. He could not get it out of his head how remarkable it was that this boy looked just like...... but that's not possible.

Jay lost him many, many years ago. This was Christopher Johnson. His new assignment.

Jay slowly started to look over Chris' body. He saw that the boy was not wearing anything. Not even one of those hospital gowns. He was just covered with a light sheet.

Jay looked over the boys face. He then lifted the sheet and reviewed the injuries to the boys chest and legs.

His father had been right. Other then the head injury, most of the injuries to the boy were pretty minor.

Jay could not help but look at the sleeping boys groin. He wasn't trying to be a pervert. He wanted to just see the boy's injuries. But again, he could not believe how much this young man looked like.........

"Excuse me, what are you doing" Came a voice from the doorway.

"I'm taking note of his injuries" Jay said "Who are you?"

"I am the boy's doctor and I do not believe you have permission to be here" the doctor said.

"Actually I do, Doctor." Jay said straightening up and facing the man "I am his body guard and have full permission to be here from his parents and the police."

"Oh, and why would he need a bodyguard?" said the doctor somewhat skeptical.

"Oh, I don't know.....maybe because he was run down by a car." Jay said, not even trying to hide his sarcasm.

"He is in my care now and I do not believe you are needed here" he said with more attitude.

"Well that is not your decision to make doctor. Please, feel free to contact the Johnson's and the police. I would not expect otherwise." Jay said moving a chair over by the bed and taking a seat next to Chris' bed.

As the doctor left in a huff, Jay mad himself comfortable sitting in the chair. He hadn't realized that he had begun holding Chris' hand.

Not only that. He was sitting next to the bed.

Not his normal position in a hospital room if it was needed that he be there.

He would normally be sitting on the opposite end of the room where he could see the whole room.

But he felt this was where he needed to be.

He sat there holding Chris' hand, not really knowing why.

He also didn't know when he had started talking to Chris.

He had not spoken to any of his other assignments if they had been unconscious in this way. But he was now talking to Chris.

He was just saying how he was going to take care of him. How he would not leave his side. How he wanted Chris to fight to wake up. He had to, for his parents and for himself. He was still so young and had so many things to do yet in life.

Jay didn't know where this was coming from. He didn't know why he was acting differently towards Chris then he did toward the others he had protected.

He wondered if it had something to do with how much Chris resembled.......

No, this was just a job. He was going to protect this boy as long as needed and that was it.

However, this did not stop him from talking to Chris.

Or holding the boy's hand either. He did this all night long. Just talking about nothing and holding Chris' hand.

Every so often he would take his other hand and run it over Chris' chest.

How warm it felt to the touch.

How much Chris' chest was like.....

But it can't be. That was so long ago. Jay knew he needed to get a grip or he was going to confuse the issue of protecting this boy.

"Oh, My" came Ann's voice from behind Jay.

Without taking his hand off of Chris' chest or hand Jay looked at her.

"Jay.....Jay he looks just like..." she started.

"I know, Ann I know" He said. "But it isn't him"

"I've seen the pictures. He looks just like him Jay." she continued.

"I know, but we have a job to do." He said in a voice that snapped her back into reality. "Are we good to go?"

"Yes, the guys are all set up. They are meeting with the school now to get that taken care of. We should be enrolled for when Chris gets back to school." She said with the calculating mind that Jay liked about her. She was the daughter of his business partner after all.

"Good, I want everything in place for whatever the outcome is." He said.

"I can take the day shift if you want Jay. Why don't you get some sleep." She suggested.

"I'm OK. I want to stay a bit more." he said looking back at Chris and placing his hand on the boy's head.

Ann didn't say anything further. She sat in a chair over in the corner where Jay would normally have been sitting. That alone told her this was going to be a special case.

As she watched, she saw the caring looking on Jay's face. Something she had not seen before. She had heard about it from her father, but never seen it herself.

It was amazing how much Chris looked just like Jay's lover from a lifetime ago. But that could not be possible. He died from injuries he received from a hit and run. A lot like this one.

She was going to have to keep an eye on Jay for this one. Her father told her how Jay had lost everything when he lost his love, Ben.

But Ben had died long ago. This was Christopher Johnson. And she had to make sure Jay kept his mind on the job.

It was not going to be easy. She could see that.

Jay had fallen asleep holding Chris' hand, while laying his head on the boy's bed, next to Chris' chest.

Nope, this was not going to be easy at all.
