We all headed in my car to the city with John and David directing me, which was a big mistake. Rick and I had never been to the city on our own before, so we had no clue where we were going.
"Do I take the Walt Whitman or the Ben Franklin?"
"Uh....Ben Franklin," John said.
"No, Walt Whitman," David said.
"Whatever, bud. Take the Ben Franklin. It's faster..." John said.
Ricky then grabbed my hand and held it. I looked over at him. "Ben Franklin?"
"Yeah, dude," he said.
After getting off the bridge, John and David gave me directions to the gay part of Philly. I had no clue where I as going, but the city driving wasn't that bad. I don't know why my parents were afraid of me driving into the city. We got to the parking garage that they had parked in before.
"Well, that was an interesting ride. I think I'm ready to turn around and go home and go to bed!" I said, getting out of the car.
Surprisingly, Rick came over to my side and gave me kiss on the lips in front of John and David. They whooped and cheered.
"Oh shut up," Rick said, smiling at them. I kissed him back, not to be outdone by this cutie.
"All right, guys save it for later, " John said. "We're hungry!"
"Well, where are we goin' dudes?" David asked.
"How about Cosi?" asked John.
"Sounds good."
"What in the hell is Cosi?"
"Oh, it's a like a coffee café. They serve food there too and you don't need to be 21 to get in," explained John.
We walked down the steps and out the door onto what John said was Walnut Street. It had been a while since I was in Philadelphia, and I had never been through this part of town. It was basically Center City, with Broad Street just about a block a way. We were walking towards 12th street and there I saw the sign for Cosi.
I was not into the coffee café scene at all and was wondering how many times John and David had been here. We walked in the door and we waited to be seated. We opted for non-smoking and sat down at a table near the window. First thing I noticed was the amount of guys there. It wasn't too terribly crowded, but it was decently crowded with a bunch of guys sitting at this table and that one and a few guys around our age too. I noticed that some of the guys were a bit flaming which I found to be a little surprising.
"You all right dudes?" David asked as he looked over at us.
I tried to conceal my amazement, but I failed. Rick looked much more at ease with the scene and nodded his head yes.
"You all right bud?" John asked directly to me.
"Yeah, just taking it all in."
"There's a gay bar/club just down the street that has an all-ages night," John said, opening his menu. "We've been there a few times."
"Really?" Rick asked. "How is it?"
"It's cool, really cool," David explained. "You can just be yourself without worrying about anyone seeing you. I'm not one for a club scene, but it's all we got. And it's cool because of that."
"Maybe we should go sometime," John said, smiling at me.
"Yeah, dude, it might be fun!" Rick said.
"Maybe," I said. This was all too weird for me. I opened my menu up and decided what I wanted to eat. They really didn't have full meals, but they had wraps and sandwiches and shit like that.
"So," David said, after we ordered from our flamboyant, freakish looking server. "Are you freakin' out now?"
"Not really," I answered. "You guys could've given me the heads-up about Ricky, though."
"I didn't want you to think we were setting you up. I figured, if it was going to happen, then let it happen," John said.
Just then I spotted two guys kissing on the lips.
"Damn!" I murmured.
"Great ain't it?" David asked, grinning at me.
"What's the matter bud? Too weird for you?" John asked.
"Nah, just not used to it," I said, smiling at both of them.
"Well, you should come out on a Wednesday night sometime. Both of you. You'll be in for a shock then!"
"Ah, I think I can handle it," Rick said. "Hey, how come you never invited me out with you before?"
"Well, come on, dude....the circumstances weren't the best....," David said.
"Yeah, you can say that again!" John said, sarcastically.
Suddenly, I put two and two together. "Wait a fuckin' minute buds!" I exclaimed, leaning up in my seat.
"Was he....?" I started to ask John.
John grinned at me and shook his head yes. "Yes, this boy is the one my boyfriend seduced a year ago."
"Dude, I really didn't know..." Rick said, looking serious. Obviously, they had not hung out too many times before this.
"I know, man, it's past. It's cool," John said. David kept quiet.
"Well, anyway," I said.
So we got into a good conversation about baseball and schools. Funny, we went there to be "gay" and all we talked about was baseball. By the time we were done dinner, though, the subject had been resurrected.
"So, how many other dudes do you think are gay at your school?" Rick asked me in particular.
"I really don't know, man," I said.
"Boy you are really a dumb jock aren't you?" John said.
"Hey! I resent that! I may not be the most observant person, but I'm not a dumb jock."
"Well, we do know of one other one in our school," John continued.
"Who?" I asked, wondering if I knew the person he was going to mention.
"Uh, Josh?" he asked.
"Oh," I said, laughing. "Yeah, true."
"He cute?" Rick asked.
"Oh yeah, he's a real hottie," David said.
"Yeah he is," I said, sighing. "He's not cute in the hot way, but he's definitely cute."
"He your ex?" Rick asked.
"Yeah," I answered, looking towards John, hoping he would take the hint and change the damn subject.
"Well, what's done is done," John said.
We finished up dinner and paid the bill, still jabbing on about baseball. I was still surprised that I, Steve Edison, was in the gay part of Philly, let alone with another dude who I had just met just a day ago.
"Well, boys, should we head back to Jersey?" David said, getitng up.
"Sounds good to me," John answered.
We headed back to the car, kidding around like normal high school kids do. At one point, Rick had slapped me on my ass. Well, that was the first time that ever happened in public. I was taken aback by it and they all noticed.
"Lighten up, bud, you're safe here," John said, grinning.
"It's just a little hard to comprehend. We looked like a bunch of faggots walking down the street."
"Did you notice, bud, we are bunch of faggots?" John asked.
"Sorry about that, dude. I just couldn't resist slapping your fuckin' hot ass," Rick said, grinning.
Somehow, we made it back to Jersey without drama about which way we were going. David and John dropped us off at Rick's house and we said goodbye. I was wondering all the way home what Rick would want to do after we got back. I had made up my mind to leave unless he said otherwise.
"So, do you want to hang out some more here?" he asked, just as I was about to walk to my car.
"Uh, sure, bud," I said, smiling, relieved that he suggested it.
We walked back inside and he led me to his room.
"So now what?" I asked.
"Damn sister is still home, Steve. I wish she'd leave."
"Oh," I said.
"I hope you understand that I want to just rip your clothes off now, but I can't. Not when she's home."
"It's cool," I said, understanding the situation. "Maybe it's better if we wait."
"Ah, fuck it," he said, moving over to me and ripping my pants down.
"Woah!" I said, not ready for what he just did.
"Just shut up," he said, softly, getting on his knees and looking back up at me.
"Okay," I said, as he took my cock in his mouth. It took three seconds for it to go from soft to hard in that warm mouth of his.
He knew how to suck a cock, man. He could take my cock all the way down his throat. He used his hands to stimulate my balls as he sucked what seemed like harder and harder. I let out a soft moan as he placed his hand on my ass to help him pull me into him. I started taking the hint and soon was fucking his face. His mouth was so nice to slip my cock into. And he was so hot.
I reached down and ripped off his t-shirt over his head. His chest was more defined than I thought it would be. It had a small patch of hair in the middle in between his two mounds of pectoral muscle.
"You like it?" he asked, looking up at me.
"Oh yeah," I said, fixated on his chest.
"Mmm..." he said, resuming his expert oral techniques on my cock.
"OH FUCK!" I moaned, a little too loudly.
"Ssshhh..." he said.
He kept sucking and sucking, working my balls over with his hands. I wanted to feel his body up against mine. I took control and lift him up under his arms. I felt his hair under his arms brushing against my hand. He looked at me, now standing in front of me. He lifted my shirt off me and seemed to be impressed by my well-built, smooth chest. He immediately kissed my left nipple as he felt around with his hand.
"Mmm..." he murmured as he flicked it with his tongue.
"You want this?" I asked, feeling cocky and sure of myself.
"Mmm hmmm!" he said, licking down my chest, down my ripped stomach, down to my cock again.
He kept sucking until I had to pull it out of his mouth.
"Stop, man, I was about to shoot," I whispered.
"Well, why'd you stop me?"
"Uh, okay..." I said, as he resumed sucking my cock.
I noticed he was rubbing his cock outside his jeans. But soon, the feeling overtook me and I was transported to that other world as I was about ready to shoot.
"Bud, I am going to shoot," I said, in a short breath.
He kept sucking. I shot, letting out a stifled moan, as I filled his mouth with my cum. He was good, nothing leaked out of his mouth, and by the time my cock came out of his mouth, it was for the most part clean. He froze up for a few seconds.
"Aw, shit," he said, standing up. It was then I realized he had shot his load in his jeans.
"Damn, bud!" I exclaimed. "Doesn't take much eh?"
He laughed. "It's all because of you. Aw, shit," he said, unbuttoning his jeans. He had no shame and stripped them off in one motion. His boxers were soaked with cum. I watched as he shucked them off as well, to reveal a semi-hard, uncut cock.
"Damn you're uncut?" I asked.
"Sure am!" he said, getting an old t-shirt from under the bed He proceeded to clean himself up. It was a nice sized cock.
"Can you cum again?" I asked.
"Yeah, dude....just takes a little time to recover." He cleaned up, and put on a clean pair of boxers and sweat shorts. "Hey, don't worry, there will be plenty of time for that later. I just couldn't stop myself from attacking you, dude. I've been wanting to do that since the first time I saw you three years ago."
We ended the night, just hanging out like two normal high school kids. He was a very funny guy, cracking jokes all night long. I enjoyed being with him. We played some video games and before I knew it, it was midnight.
"Well, bud, I hate to do this, but I gotta get home," I said.
"Why?"
"Got a paper route to do in the monring..." I said, getting up.
:"Aw, shit, dude. Well, want to get together again?" he asked, getting up as well.
"Sure, bud. Tomorrow isn't good, though. But I'm sure we can work something out. What about Monday?"
"We have a half day on Monday, bro," he said, with a grin.
"What? Why?" I asked.
"Parent-Teacher Conferences," he said.
"Well, I have a full day."
"How about we get together after that? What time do you usually get home?" he asked.
"Around five," I said. "How about I call you after I get home and we'll work something out then?"
"Sounds good, dude."
We embraced and kissed a long, passionate wet kiss. I didn't want to leave, but I knew it was premature to spend the night. Plus, he didn't ask me.
I drove home from his house, smiling and contented. I went straight to bed, tired but happy. Unfortunately, I knew tomorrow, I had to do family shit with my parents and relatives. It turned out to be a waste of a day and as soon as I got home, I did my homework.
Monday rolled around and it was back to school as usual. Classes were a drag. John noticed a smile on my face though at lunch.
"So, buddy, did you get some?" he asked, softly.
I nodded my head yes.
"You pig!" Joe exclaimed on the other side of me.
Unfortunately, Josh came over and sat down, so that ended that conversation before it even started. At one end, I wanted to rub it into Josh's face that I had got some action. But at the same time, I couldn't hurt him more than I already did. So, I chose to end it before he caught on.
"We'll talk about it later, bud," I said to John.
The day went on and we went to baseball practice after school. As usual, I had a blast, though it was hard work. I could've really cared less though, since I was looking forward to talking to Rick on the phone after practice. John didn't bring it up at practice, so I didn't really get to tell anyone about it. I went home, immediately after practice. I had to call him.
I called him and we made plans for after dinner. Though I knew I had homework, this was more important in my mind. He agreed to come over to my place after dinner to hang out.
My plan was foiled however when Josh came knocking at my door right after I was done with dinner..
"Josh," I said when I let him inside. "What are you doing here?"
"It's Monday night."
Oh shit, I thought to myself. I looked at my watch, which indicated 6:30PM, just the time that Rick was going to show up.
"Oh, bud, I'm sorry. I completely forgot it was our Physics night. Can we reschedule? I'm really busy right now."
He looked at me like I was crazy.
"Uh okay, Steve," he said, sounding disappointed.
Just then there was another knock at the door. Great, I thought to myself. This could only happen to me. I hesitated to answer the door, but what else could I do? So with Josh standing right there, I opened the door again and saw Rick standing outside.
"Hey, bud, come in," I said, opening the door. Rick looked a little surprised to see another guy standing there.
"Uh, Josh this is my bud, Rick. Rick this is my bud, Josh."
Rick's eyes grew wide when he recognized the name of my ex. Josh didn't look all too pleased about this whole situation but shook Rick's hand.
"Cool to meet you," Rick said. Josh didn't look at Rick for more than a second before he diverted his eyes back to the floor.
Rick gave him a strange look, like Josh was weird or something. I didn't like that at all. No one put down my little guy. No one.
"Well, uh, I guess I should be leaving," Josh mumbled, looking at the floor.
"Uh, okay," I said, still concerned about how Josh would take this. "Well, you don't have to leave if you don't want to," I said, not knowing what else to say.
"No, Steve, I'll see you around," he said, looking up at me with wet eyes. He turned for the door and stepped out.
I groaned. "Bud, wait here. I just want to make sure he's okay."
Rick nodded and I went outside to chase my ex boyfriend.
"Josh!" I yelled., "Wait!"
He turned around to look at me.
"Bud, I'm sorry about tonight. We can do it tomorrow night."
He just stared at me, lost and looking hurt.
"So, I'll see you tomorrow all right?" I asked, not really having time for one of his silent moods.
:"Okay," he said softly. He turned around and started walking again. I took a long look at him, walking slowly. I felt bad for him. I slowly walked back to the front door and stepped inside to where Rick was.
"Was that your...?"
"Yes," I said, softly. Regaining my composure, I turned to him and said, "So, what did you want to do?"
"Well, I figured we could go out and see a movie or something...."
"Sounds good to me," I said, smiling at him. He really was cute with his dark hair and tanned skin.
"You are a stupid fool," Josh said to himself as he walked back to his house. As soon as he got home, he picked up the phone and dialed John's number.
"Hi, John?" he asked when he thought John answered the phone.
"No, this is his bro. I'll get him for you!"
"Hello?"
"Hey John..."
"Hey, little bud!" John said, wondering what this call was about. "What's up?"
"Are you busy?"
"Nah, just finishing up my homework. Why? What's up?"
"Would you like to hang out tonight?" Josh asked, desperate for anyone to be with him.
"Uh, sure, I guess. Want me to come over there?"
"Yeah, that sounds good. No one else is home."
"Cool, let me finish this shit up and then I'll be over at like seven?"
"Okay. Thanks."
John came over at seven just as he said he would. They went up to Josh's room and sat down on the bed.
Josh cut right to the chase. "Do you know someone named Rick that's hanging out with Steve tonight?"
"Uh, bud, how'd you know that?"
"I went over to his house and this guy named Rick was there. Steve forgot evidently about tutoring tonight."
"Well, yeah I know him. He's a bud of David's. They go to school together."
"Shit," Josh said.
"Are you all right?" he asked softly.
"No," Josh answered. "I didn't expect this to happen."
John knew better than to say anything else.
"You know, I still do love him. I just couldn't take him back. I didn't expect him to go out and find someone new though."
"Hey, bud, you did the right thing. If you can't trust him, he shouldn't be your boyfriend."
"It just isn't fair. I did the right thing. He was the cheat. Why should I be the one who feels like shit now?"
"You can't blame him for moving on. He tried to win you back, Josh. He did. I never saw him do that for anyone before."
"I made a mistake," Josh said, looking up at John. "I made a big mistake."
"Well, it's done now. What are you going to do? Go and beg him to take you back now?"
"Fuck no," Josh said.
"Well, buddy, I guess you'll just have to wait and see. Luckily, David didn't meet anyone else before I went back with him. I'm not sure what to tell you to do in this case."
"I'm not going to play games with him. I refuse to do that. But, damn it, I want him back. God I can't believe I just said that."
"Buddy," John said, moving over to Josh and wrapping his arm around his shoulder. "You'll get through this. I know how tough it is. You'll get through it...."
"What if I don't want to get through it?" interrupted Josh. "What if I just want to throw every fuckin' reason I have away and just go to him?"
John sighed. "I don't know, bud. I always thought you were a fuckin' awesome couple. I never did tell you this before. But Steve did stay with his girl for three years. He never cheated on her. Maybe he just needed sometime to play around before he knew what he really wanted. He's a great guy, bud. He just lives in the moment, which can cause some problems, but also makes him a fun guy."
"Yeah I know," Josh said. "Fuck, do you think I should go after him?"
"That's your call, bud. I gave into David quickly, so I can't say either way. He's with Rick now, isn't he?"
"Yeah. I just can't stand here and watch him go with that guy though. This isn't about jealousy. Well, maybe it is. But it's not all about that. I want him back. And I'm going to get him back."
"Dude, how do you know he's foolin' around with Rick?"
"I just have this feeling. I know him so well. I know he's got an insatiable sexual drive. I know with his good looks, he could have any guy out there he wanted."
"And you don't think the same of yourself?" John asked.
"What?" Josh asked, getting up. "John, look at me! I'm just a nerdy freak. No one would ever want me. Do you think I'm cute?"
John grinned. "Yeah, I do. You're very cute."
"Do you think Steve would take me back now? That other guys is hot too. I don't stand a chance."
"Don't be too sure about that, bud. He was certainly hooked on you before. He probably still is, but he doesn't talk about it anymore."
"Well, I'm going over there now!"
"What, now?" John asked, getting up.
"Don't think I should?"
"No, not now. They're probably like having sex or something..."
"More the reason to," Josh said.
"Bud, wait. You don't want to look like some bitch trying to take his man back after he turned him down already."
"Then what do I do?" Josh asked, slumping back down on the bed.
John stopped and thought. "I don't know, bud."
Meanwhile, Rick and I had settled in the basement, playing a round of pool and then sitting down on the couch together. I flipped on the TV and Rick wrapped his arm around me and we cuddled on the couch.
"Steve!" I heard my mom's voice call from the top of the steps.
"Yeah?" I yelled back.
"Josh is here to see you!"
"Oh shit," I murmured to Rick. Rick let go of me and I got up. Josh was walking down the steps, looking very nervous but surprisingly sure of himself.
"What's up, bud?" I asked, trying to remain cool.
He looked at Rick at first and then turned away quickly towards me. He then looked over at the wall behind me. I knew Josh was feeling something bad. He always acted this way when he was uncomfortable. I found it so fuckin' cute even now. All I wanted to do was take him in my arms and tell him it was going to be all right. I looked over at Rick, who was still looking at Josh. He then turned to me and gave me a confused look.
"Uh...Josh..." I said softly.
He looked over at me and I locked eyes with him. "What's the matter, bud?"
"C-c-c-can I talk to you alone?" he stuttered.
"Well, I'm sort of with Rick now. Are you all right?"
"I just needed to talk to you, now!" he said.
"Uh okay, want to go upstairs?" He nodded yes.
"Sorry, Rick, it'll only be a minute," I said.
Rick looked once more at Josh and then at me. He looked annoyed and sort of rolled his eyes. I didn't like that. I turned my attention back to Josh and said, "Let's head upstairs, bud."
We walked up the steps to my room and I closed the door behind us.
"Bud you came at a very awkward time...."
"Steve, I needed to say this to you now....just let me finish," he said, when I tried to talk again.
"John told me not to come over here, but I just had to tell you this. I want you back..."
I took a deep breath. It sounded very nice to hear. But something kept me from being totally excited about hearing that. I had a new boy downstairs waiting for me.
"This is because you saw me with Rick?"
"Well, not exactly...."
"Josh, that ain't fair to me, bud. You can't expect me to drop Rick and go back with you, just like that. You turned me down twice before I finally moved on. I love you, bud. I really do. But you can't expect me to just drop everything since you now discovered you want me back."
Josh looked up at me and said, "True. Steve. Please, think about it. Just think about it."
He walked to the door and left, leaving me sitting on my bed, totally lost and confused. I finally came back to reality and walked out of my room. I went back downstairs where Rick, that cute fuckin' latino baseball player, was sitting on the couch. He looked over as he heard me coming down the steps.
"Sorry about that," I said.
"Bud, why do you bother?" he asked, as I sat back down next to him.
"Huh?" I asked, wishing he had something else.
"Why do you bother?"
I looked at him and carefully chose my words in my answer. "Because I still love him."
"Okay..." Rick said. Again, I felt that need to protect Josh.
"Buddy, don't even go where I think you're going with this because I'll toss you out of here right now."
"Dude, relax! I'm sorry if I struck a nerve with you. I'm just surprised that a guy like you would go for a guy like him."
I was steaming. One thing he had going for him. He was being honest with me. But still, I didn't like the idea of anyone insulting Josh. He was too good to be bashed behind his back.
"Rick, look, you're a great guy and all. I would love to hang out with you more. But you just fuckin' insulted Josh."
"Sorry, dude. I didn't mean to..."
"Look, it's nothing. It really should be nothing. But I'm sorry, I do have feelings for him still. Maybe not in a romantic sense, but still I have feelings for him."
I took a deep breath. "Maybe we should try this again another night."
"Aw, dude!" he whined.
"Come on, Rick. Give me a chance, bro. I mean I wasn't ready for you two to meet yet. Josh isn't a normal dude. He's a great guy, but he's not your average definition of normal. Actually that's one of the reasons why I fell in love with him."
"So, you would rather me leave now?" he asked.
"Yeah, bud, I think it would be best," I answered, looking straight at him.
He sighed and got up off the couch. I followed him up the stairs and walked him out to his car.
"Listen," he said, turning around after unlocking his car. "Look, I like you, Steve. I've only known you for a few days, but I like you. I'm hoping we can hang out again soon."
"I hope we can too, Rick, trust me, I do. Never met anyone like you before. I hope you understand that I am fucked up in the head right now."
"Sure, dude, I understand. I'm sorry if I gave the wrong impression of Josh. But, like you said, it wasn't supposed to happen, and it just caught me by surprise as well."
I grinned at him. "Cool. Call me later tonight. Aren't we still going out with John and David on Wednesday?"
"Oh yeah, dude! I'm in! I'll call you later tonight."
"Cool," I said, as he got into his car. I waved to him as he pulled out. I then looked down the street to where Josh lived and wondered what it would be like if we were still together today.
