Beth stayed with Randy and watched as the ambulance finally pulled in and two EMT's jumped out of it rushing in to check on him and make sure it was going to be safe to move him. They noticed a few spots that were definitely going to be bruised later also checking out his nose seeing the swelling. It was determined that he probably had a broken nose. They loaded him onto the board and slowly rose it up so that they could get him into the back of the ambulance.
"Is there anyone that should know he is being taken to the hospital?"
Beth shook her head not knowing anyone that would need to know right off. She watched as they loaded him into the ambulance and starting to take off towards the hospital. She then remembered that she had noticed Randy was spending a lot of time with Cody here lately so she ran over to the elevator and hit the floor that she knew their rooms were on. Once out of the elevator she ran down the hallway and pounded on the door she had saw Randy go into previously.
"Who is it?" came Manu's voice from the other side.
"It's Beth, open up."
Manu opened the door and looked to her wondering what she wanted. She looked and saw Cody laying on the bed his head propped up as he bit his bottom lip.
"Hey, I don't know if Randy is just a friend to you or if he is something more, but you might want to get in the car and head down to the hospital."
At that Cody jumped up off the bed and was next to the door immediately. "What's wrong? Is he alright?"
"I don't know what happened. All I know is that I came back into the hotel because I forgot my cell phone when I was going to go out and meet Melina and I found him lying on the floor unconscious."
Cody immediately started panicking as he looked around the room trying to find Randy's car keys. He must have taken them with him earlier because he couldn't find them anywhere.
"Shit, he's got the fucking keys." Cody said as he sat down on the bed sighing.
"Get off your ass and come on; my car is parked out front." Beth said as she grabbed Cody by the shirt and dragged him out of the room and towards the elevator.
Once inside she pressed the button and looked over at him. "I have to apologize. I told them that no one needed to know he was gone and then it hit me that I think you needed to know. Like I said I don't know if you're just a friend or something more, but I thought I would tell you."
"It's okay Beth, thank you for coming and getting me. Did he look okay? Was he in bad shape?"
"They think he might have broken his nose. Do you know what might have happened or who might have done it?"
"Ted."
"As in your boyfriend Ted?"
"Ex boyfriend."
"I'm sorry honey. So are you and Randy?"
"No, at least not that I know of." Cody said with a sigh.
"Well if you need someone to talk to you know where to find me and Melina, we would listen anytime and give you advice."
"You and Melina?" Cody asked looking at her.
"Yeah."
"Wow." Cody said as they stepped out of the elevator.
Not a couple of steps out a paper cup was chucked in their direction barely missing both of them. They looked up and could see Mike and Ted standing at the balcony looking down on them.
"Going to see the person you're cheating on me with? Better tell him to pray that he don't run into me again or I'll make sure that it's more than a broken nose next time, he'll be lucky to be able to take a breath."
"Why don't you come the down here and say that." Beth said looking up at them.
"I'm not above hitting you; I think you're a man anyway." Mike said challenging her back.
"You're just upset because you know I could take you and your little bitch right there."
Cody grabbed Beth's hand and pulled her along. "I'll deal with your ass later Ted."
"Yeah bitch, run away, just like you always do."
Cody continued on and looked around before Beth finally pointed to her car. They quickly got in and drove off towards the hospital. The ride there was silent as Cody was fuming at the way Ted had bragged about hurting Randy and threatening not only him but Beth who had nothing to do with their problems.
Once they arrived Cody jumped out of the vehicle before Beth had even cut it off and ran inside demanding to know where Randy was.
"Calm down sir." one of the nurses said trying to keep him from upsetting some of the other patients.
"Sit down and wait and we'll be right with you."
"I don't want to fucking sit down, I want to know where Randy is right now."
"Sir, you're just going to have to wait. I have to find him before I can tell you where he is, and I have to make sure you are even authorized to be allowed to see him."
Beth had finally gotten in the room and put a hand on Cody's shoulder.
"Listen, someone very important to him is in your facility and we would like to check on him and make sure he is alright. If you don't mind, we would really like to see him right now. He was brought here no more than fifteen minutes ago."
"Well in that case head through those doors and take a right. The nurses at the desk should be able to help you."
Cody took off down through the doors he was told to go to and took off to the left but was grabbed by the shirt collar. "This way Cody." Beth said as she pulled him in the right direction knowing he wasn't thinking and that he only wanted to be with Randy.
They were gave the room number by a nurse at the desk and headed off. Once they pulled back the curtain they saw Randy lying in a bed blood drying around his nose and his mouth. Cody walked over to him and took Randy's hand in his looking down at him.
"I'm here." he said knowing Randy couldn't hear him.
He dropped Randy's hand as a nurse came into the room and looked at Cody and Beth wondering why they were there.
"Can I help you?"
"We came to check on him."
"Are you family or a spouse?" she asked looking at Cody.
"Is that really relevant?"
She looked to him but didn't say anything else as she checked Randy's vitals to make sure he was alright. "The doctor said that he has a broken nose and a lot of bruises but he may also have a small concussion. We're really just waiting on him to wake up before we can fully know. They did a test as soon as he was brought in, and we're waiting on the results. Whoever beat him up really did a number on him."
Cody nodded his head and watched her leave. Once she did he took a seat in the chair beside the bed and took Randy's hand in his again laying his other hand on top of it.
"Please wake up."
Cody's words fell on deaf ears and he lay his head on the bed just holding on to him.
Thirty minutes passed and Beth looked at Randy still seeing that he hadn't woken up. She wondered if maybe he did have a concussion. "I'm going to go get us some coffee. I'll be right back."
Cody nodded his head and then lay it back down on the bed beside of his friend. He rose back up when he heard a moan come from his body.
"Where the hell am I?"
"It's okay Randy, you're in a hospital."
"What am I doing here?"
"Beth found you unconscious in the lobby of the hotel and they brought you here to make sure you didn't have a concussion or anything. The doctor said that you have a broken nose."
Randy grumbled something that couldn't be made sense of and closed his eyes back the lights above killing him. He pulled his hand out of Cody's grasp and reach up feeling the spots on his face that were sore.
"What happened to you?"
"Nothing."
"Randy, something happened. I know that Ted couldn't have done this."
"Nothing happened Cody. Drop it!"
"Randy?"
"Cody, I said fucking drop it. I don't know why you're here anyway."
Cody winced like he had just been punched in the face himself. And what stung the most was that it was by the one person that he thought would never say something to him like that.
"I...I'm sorry. I'm just worried about you."
"Well don't be worried about me. I don't need you worrying about me."
Cody hung his head as he felt a tear escape his eyes. He stood up and looked down at Randy, "Maybe I shouldn't have even bothered to come to you with my problems. I knew this was too good to be true."
He turned to walk off but Randy sat up quickly and grabbed his hand.
"Let me go Randy, you said to fucking drop it and that's what I'm doing."
"Cody, come here. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said what I said, I wasn't thinking."
"Yeah, well I wasn't either apparently. I fucked up with Ted and now I fucked up with you, what's new?"
Randy gripped Cody's hand tighter and pulled him back to him causing Cody to bang against the bed.
"Sit your ass down."
Cody did as he was told and sat down on the bed keeping his back to Randy not wanting to even look at him right now. He didn't do anything to have gotten snapped at like he had.
"Cody, I said I'm sorry. I don't know what to say to you."
"You can tell me what fucking happened. That's what you can do."
"Fine. Me and Ted got into a fight because I didn't want him to get to you. And he had Mike with him and I didn't see him until it was too late. They whipped my ass, are you fucking happy now?"
"Randy I'm sorry you got your ass kicked but if you think that makes me think any less of you you're wrong. It was two on one, it wasn't fair, you know it and I know it. I...I'm just touched that you took up for me. You didn't have to do that."
"I did."
"Why did you have to do that? I can take up for myself."
"I don't know; I just felt that I should. I promised you that nothing would ever happen to you. And I intend to keep that promise."
"Well thank you Randy but next time you don't have to get your ass kicked for me."
"I'd do it for you again gladly."
Cody finally turned and looked down at Randy as he didn't know what to say. Had he heard what he had or had he only wanted to hear that?
"Do you mean that?"
Randy looked to Cody his eyes not leaving the younger mans. "I keep telling myself that it's too early, that I shouldn't be thinking thoughts like I'm having. But I can't keep them out of my head. I can't keep myself from falling for you, it's too late. I love you Cody."
Cody smiled nervously as he listened to what he was being told. He leaned down and pressed his lips to Randy's kissing him passionately. Randy's hand slid around to Cody's back as he returned the kiss not fighting himself this time. Time was no longer an enemy to either man.
The sound of a voice clearing made them pull apart and Beth stood there holding two cups of coffee in her hand holding one out to Cody.
"Glad to see you're back with us." she said looking to Randy.
"Thank you for getting help when you found me."
"Hey, I'm not going to leave someone lying in a heap in the middle of the floor for anyone to see. I'm a bitch on TV but that doesn't mean I am one all the time."
Cody got up off the bed and stood back up taking a sip of his coffee as he waited on the nurse to come back in.
"Sit back down here." Randy said looking up at him.
Cody sat back down on the bed and took Randy's hand in his again. "It's about time you admit you like having me around."
"Cody, have you ever heard me say that I didn't want you around?"
"Well, no."
"Okay then. Don't be putting words in my mouth."
Cody grinned and saw the curtain being slid back and the same nurse who had asked him his relationship walked in seeing them. Cody started to drop Randy's hand but Randy gripped his hand tighter and wouldn't let go of it. Cody looked to him with worry on his face.
"It's fine."
The nurse grinned and took Randy's vitals again and asked if he was in any pain. He admitted that he wasn't other than his nose bothering him. She nodded and explained he would be getting some pain medicine for that and he would need to make sure to protect his nose while he worked. She knew who he was already and what he did for a living.
"Your test results came back and you also had a small concussion so you need to take it easy for a couple of days. No wrestling matches, no stressful events or anything like that or you're going to be right back in this very spot later."
She walked over to Cody and leaned in close enough to whisper in his ear, "Next time I ask you your relationship you can tell me the truth. Rebecca already told me, and I'm sure that explains to you who I am."
Cody grinned as she turned and walked out of the room to get Randy's discharge papers.
"I take it you know her?" Beth asked.
"Yeah, we met her other half at the IHOP this morning."
"Nice, at least you know that your secret is safe."
Cody nodded his head and looked down at Randy still holding his hand. "I need to get you home so we can get you cleaned up and I can make sure that you're alright."
"Yeah, I guess I do look like shit."
"Well, that doesn't change the way I see you."
Cody leaned in again and pressed his lips to Randy's ignoring that Beth was even standing in the room, but if he had seen her he would see the grin on her face. Once the nurse came back in with the discharge papers she unhooked the blood pressure monitor and everything from Randy and handed Cody the discharge papers and the prescription that would need to have filled. They exited the room Randy's arm around Cody's neck as he was still a little dizzy and shaken up from what had happened. Beth had the other side just in case he was to stumble and they got him into the back of Beth's vehicle.
Once he was in Beth walked around to the driver side of the car and got in. Before Cody could shut the door Randy reached out and grabbed the leg of the man's jeans and motioned for him to get in back with him. Cody got in beside Randy and closed the door pulling Randy's body to him wrapping his arms around the man's shoulders.
"That's it; make me look like a chauffeur." Beth said laughing as she started the car.
They headed to the hotel, making a pit stop to get Randy's pain medicine before they got back to where they were going. Everyone got out of the vehicle and Beth text Melina saying she was on her way and that she would call her and let her know why she was so late.
"You going to be okay getting him to the room?"
Cody nodded his head and looked around to make sure that Ted or Mike wasn't around anywhere. "I think I'll manage."
Beth nodded and pulled out as soon as they were out of the car and she was calling Melina. Cody did manage to get Randy to the room safely. He opened the door letting Randy step inside the room. He looked around and didn't see Manu anywhere so he must have went back to his room. Randy lay down on his bed and sighed as he closed his eyes. His head was still throbbing.
Cody went into the bathroom and wet a washcloth with warm water and came back out sitting on the bed beside Randy. He used the cloth to wipe away some of the dried blood from his face. When he thought he had managed to get all of it he tossed the cloth in the floor and lay down beside him. Randy reached over and slid his arm under Cody pulling the younger man on top of him. He looked up at Cody and leaned in pressing their lips together kissing him like he had wanted to do before, showing him how much he did in fact care for him.
