You'll Never Guess Who Ran Into Me Today by Squall Thrawn

Lance wiped his eyes. "That was beautiful, Ryan. You have a beautiful singing voice."
"Thanks, Lance," said Ryan. "I always enjoyed singing. But I know I'm not good enough to do anything professional."
"Hmmm.. I don't know about that," said Lance. "That is a beautiful song, but it was you singing it that brought it to life for me. And that song is so perfect for us. You never know about love. How it can blossom at any time. How it can grow. Only time will tell."
"That song has always touched me, but now that I've met you, it has new meaning to me. We need to make that OUR song," said Ryan.
"You're right. I love you, Ryan," said Lance.
"I love you too, James."
Chapter 12
"We're here," said Ryan. He stopped the car. He and Lance were at a park. In front of them, a small lake rippled slightly from the mild wind.
"It's beautiful, Ryan," said Lance. And it was true. They were parked right by the lakefront, and the sun reflecting off the lake gave it a warm glow. The two of them got out of the car and sat on a nearby park bench. Lance put his arm around Ryan. Ryan just smiled.
"I used to come here a lot," said Ryan, looking out towards the water. "Not many people in this area know about this park. And those who do, usually don't come this early in the year. So I'm usually here by myself, without any strangers to bother me. I would come here and think."
"What about?" asked Lance, curiously.
"Oh, everything. Where I wanted my life to go. I came here a lot more often when I started wondering whether or not I was gay. I would yell a lot, asking God why I was gay."
"Did you get an answer?" asked Lance.
"In a way, yes. I realized that he had made me the way I was. If I was made this way, then how could it be wrong? He wouldn't intentionally make this way if it's a sin. God is love. No matter if it's the love between a man and a woman, or between two men or two women."
"Thanks, Ry," said Lance. "I've been thinking about that for a while. So, in reference to what you said earlier, where do you want your life to go?"
"I'm not really sure," said Ryan. "I was just planning to get through junior college, and then perhaps go on to another college for the last two years. That way I'd have my bachelor's degree. But the thing is, I'm not sure what I want to major in."
"Well, what do you enjoy doing? What field has always interested you?" asked Lance.
"What do I enjoy doing?" said Ryan. "I do enjoy singing, but I know that I'm not good enough. The other things I enjoy, there's no career in them. At least, a career that I'd enjoy."
"Well, I'm not sure that you're not good enough to sing professionally, Ry. You definitely have a gift. Though you did lie to me earlier, ya know."
Ryan turned to look at Lance questioningly. "What do you mean, James?"
"You said earlier that you sang bass," said Lance, grinning. "But you're definitely a tenor."
"Oh, that," said Ryan, laughing. "I was just giving you a hard time!! I couldn't sing that low if my life depended on it!!"
Then Ryan stopped smiling, and looked out at the water again. Lance picked up the change in Ryan's mood.
"What's the matter, Ry?" asked Lance.
"This has been so wonderful, James," said Ryan, looking into Lance's eyes. "I don't know what I would have done without you. But, in a few days, you'll be on to your next venue, and I'll be right back where I started, with no place to stay and a job where nasty looks will be the best responses I get from the employees. And, I'll be away from you. I don't know where I'll be without you, or the other guys," continued Ryan, his voice breaking. He looked back at the lake, tears forming.
"Ryan. Ryan, look at me," said Lance. Ryan turned his head towards Lance. "I promise you, I will find a way to fix your problems. Somehow, I will. I'm not going to give up on this that easily. You're just going to have to trust me."
"I trust you, James. I trust you like I've never trusted anybody before," said Ryan.
Lance leaned forward, and his and Ryan's lips touched in a tender, soft kiss. Ryan once again marvelled at Lance's soft lips. They kissed again, more passionately this time. Ryan's tongue licked against Lance's lips, wanting to be let in. Lance opened his lips, and Ryan's tongue danced in. Ryan's tongue explored Lance's mouth fully. Lance's tongue did the same, as their tongues dueled. Suddenly, a cell phone rang.
Reluctantly, Lance ended their kiss. "Arrgh," said Lance. He pulled out his cell phone, and looked at the caller id. "It's Josh." Lance answered the call.
"Hey, Josh!! Yes, I'm ok. Yeah, we found his car, intact. A minor problem, but we solved it. No, we're not on our way right now. Right now, Ryan's showing me something. Not right now, Josh. Right. We'll be there in a while. Alright. Talk to ya later, Josh. Ok, I'll tell him. Bye, Josh."
Lance turned off his cell phone. "Josh says hi, by the way."
Ryan giggled. "It's the least he could do, after interrupting us. Now, where were we?"
Ryan leaned towards Lance, but as his lips touched Lance's, another phone went off.
"Wha? I thought I turned mine off just now," said Lance, frowning.
"You did. That was my cell phone," said Ryan. "I had completely forgotten that I had it with me. I just stuck it in my pocket along with my wallet this morning. I wonder who it could be?"
Ryan answered the call. "Hello? Hey, Chris!! It's been a while!! Yeah, probably six months or so. Yeah, I know you've been busy. I suppose I could forgive ya. So, what's on your mind? Really? Tomorrow? That's great!! We'll have to meet somewhere. Actually, that wouldn't be a good place. Really. It's a long story. I'll tell you when I see you tomorrow. I'll call you tomorrow. Yea, at your parent's. Yeah. Nice talkin' to you, too. Take care. Bye, Chris." Ryan turned off his phone.
"So, who was that, Ry?" asked Lance.
"That was one of my friends, Chris. Here I thought he'd found new friends to hang out with and it was adios for me, then he calls me up!! Huh.."
"Are you going to tell him?" asked Lance.
"I think so. Though I may be wrong, I think he'll be accepting of me. But then again, I thought that about Greg..."
"Don't worry, Ry," said Lance. "I'll be there for you, no matter what."
"So, does this mean we're dating?"
"I sure hope so," said Lance, looking Ryan right in the eye. "But let me put this to you formally. Ryan Holden, will you be my boyfriend?"
Ryan didn't say anything, but kissed Lance fiercely, passionately. A minute could have gone by, or five. But to Ryan and Lance, it didn't matter. Then, Ryan heard a distant crash of thunder. As he and Lance stopped kissing, Ryan saw that "It looks like it could storm out there," said Ryan. "The weather out here tends to crop up suddenly. Do you want to head out?"
"Yeah," said Lance. "The guys are waiting for us. Speaking of the guys, do you want to tell them about us?"
"If you want to, Lance," said Ryan. Just then, it started raining. "Let's get in the car and finish this conversation on the way to the hotel." Lance nodded, and they both ran to Ryan's car. They got in, and Ryan started the ignition. He pulled out, and started exiting the park. "So, Lance, do the guys know you're gay?"
"No," said Lance, thoughtfully. "Well, except for Josh. He realized that I was in love with you before I was even sure."
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah. He asked me at breakfast, right after I told them about your story. He asked me at point blank range if I loved you?"
"How did you answer him?" asked Ryan curiously.
"I told him that I wasn't sure. I mean, I hadn't even considered myself gay until you described how you knew. Those feelings you described matched mine exactly."
"What about the others? How will Justin, Joey, and Chris react?"
"Well, they seemed comfortable with the idea of you being gay. Joey and Chris judge people on their merits. They don't care whether a person is black or white, gay or straight. Justin.. I'm not as sure with him. But I think he'll be able to deal with it. And I really want to tell them that we're going out."
"Alright, James. We'll do it your way, then. Group meeting when we get there?"
"Sounds like a plan," said Lance.
Ryan drove them the rest of the way to the Adam's Mark. Ryan told Lance some hilarious Wal-mart stories, while Lance made Ryan laugh with some of his recountings of N Sync's tours.
"Here we are," said Ryan, as they finally reached the Adam's Mark. He pulled around back, to the private entrance. A guard walked up to Ryan's window. Ryan rolled down his window.
"Young man, you can't be back here. You'll have to turn around and leave," said the guard. Just then, Lance leaned towards the window, so that the guard could see him.
"He's with me," said Lance.
"Oh, sorry, Mr. Bass. I didn't see you there. You may pass through."
"Ryan here is a guest of mine," Lance told the guard. "From now on, you can admit him without me or one of the other guys here."
"Yes, sir," said the guard, nodding. "Your full name, sir?"
"Ryan Andrew Holden."
"Alright. You may pass through."
"Thank you," said Ryan. He drove his car into the private entrance, and parked next to Lance's rented SUV.
"Well, we're here," said Ryan. "Let's go!!"
The two of them headed to the elevators, and rode one to the floor occupied by N Sync.
"How about you get Curly and Chris, and I'll get Joey and Josh?" said Lance.
"Alright," said Ryan. "I know where their rooms are, since we ate in Chris's room, and Justin's is right next to us, right?"
"Yeah. Why don't we meet in our room?" asked Lance. Ryan nodded. He went over and knocked on Chris's door. Joey opened it.
"Hey, Ryan!!" yelled Joey, giving Ryan a big bear hug.
"Umm.. Joe..I can't..breathe.." gasped Ryan.
"Oh, sorry, Ryan," said Joey.
"Is anybody else in here?" asked Ryan.
"Yeah, me and Josh are hangin' out here with Chris. Justin's in his room, I think talking on the phone with Britney."
"Alright. Hey, Lance has called a group meeting. Why don't we just meet here in your room, since you three are here already?" suggested Ryan.
"Sounds like a plan to me," said Joey. Just then, Lance came walking by.
"Hey, Ryan, I can't find Josh or..hey, Joey!" said Lance, seeing Joey there.
"Lance, they're all here in Chris's room. Why don't we just meet here? I'll go get Justin. He's in his room."
"Alright," said Lance, as he walked into the room. Josh gave him a considering look. Chris just waved and smiled.
Ryan walked down the hallway, and knocked on Justin's door.
A voice yelled out from the room, "Who is it!?"
"It's Ryan."
The door opened. Justin stood there with a smile. "Hi, Ryan. Did you find your car ok?"
"Yeah, Justin. What was it you wanted to talk about?"
Justin's smile vanished, and a serious look came over Justin's face. "Come in, please." Ryan walked into Justin's room, and Justin closed the door behind them. Ryan noticed that Justin's room was exactly like the one that he and Lance shared.
"What is it that's so serious, Justin?" asked Ryan.
"I've got to ask you something. Something personal."
"Justin, we're friends. You can ask me anything."
"Ryan..how did you know you were gay?"
That's all for now!! Rafo!! Please send me feedback!!
