Officer Ken -- Part Four

"You did WHAT?" My colleagues in the office replied, almost in unison, when I told them the details of the previous day's adventure in riding to Ken's rescue in a cop car.

I got home that night, and was hardly in the door when the phone rang, and it was Ken. He thanked me profusely for my gallantry, and was embarrassed that his calamity spoiled his attempt to drive me to work, and he laughed when I told him about my idea of playing with the lights and siren. "I don't think we can do that, but maybe some evening I could arrange for you to ride on patrol with me. In the meantime, I `d like to do something special on Saturday -- are you available?" I told him I would make arrangements to be off that Saturday, and he told me he would pick me up at 8am.

The rest of the workweek passed so slowly, and I could hardly wait for the weekend.

Saturday finally arrived, and I was eagerly awaiting Ken's arrival. I was up early, and was ready for anything -- all that he said was to wear good, comfortable walking shoes. I had no idea what he planned for the day.

Ken knocked at the door about ten minutes after eight, and I hardly had the door open before he swooped me into his arms for a toe-tingling kiss. He was so handsome, wearing a blue tee emblazoned with a big teddy bear that stretched over his muscular chest, with dark hair sticking out the top. He was also wearing cargo shorts that practically bulged with his muscular thighs. He looked deliciously handsome!

After he kissed me, he held my hands and said "Paul...I don't know what to say about Tuesday. I feel so goofy, to have wanted to surprise you with a rain-free ride, and ended up saving my life. I was also really surprised at how quick you were to do the math and figure out that I might not be out to mom or the captain."

I reassured him the best I could, not to be embarrassed, and his sweet smile warmed my heart as he hugged me again.

"Now, the surprise..." He pulled two ticket stubs from his pocket -- they were for an amusement park a couple of hours away. I was really happy -- I love amusement parks and hadn't been to one for a few years! "I hope you like them -- I wanted to do something fun and special at the same time, and figured maybe you would..." I didn't let him finish, as I was too eager to kiss him back for his thoughtfulness!

"Wow -- you do know how to kiss, don't you?" he teased me. "C'mon, we better get a move on unless you want to stand in line for hours trying to ride one ride!"

I double-checked her majesty's food supply and water dish, and then we moved downstairs to his truck. We climbed in, and headed off to the park, his strong and warm hand caressing mine.

One of the things I always enjoy about "road trips" is the easy way you can flow in and out of conversation. I was eager to ask him a million and one questions about himself, as we hadn't really had the time up to that point. Now, I had a captive audience for a couple of hours.

Ken told me that he was a third generation cop, as his grandfather and father were both cops before him, and he and I shared common Irish ancestry. While I had grown up in Tennessee, he had grown up in Maryland. He was the only son, so he felt a lot of pressure to produce kids by his mother and grandparents. I teased him that my biological clock had already ticked out, but adoption was the better option anyway.

"Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves, Paul. I've not even proposed to you yet!" We both laughed when I told him it had better not be a Cracker Jack diamond ring!

It was a gentle ride, and when we arrived at the park, I was further surprised that it was a Gay Day at the park. My heart practically sang, as I knew we could be affectionate without fear of repercussions.

Ken and I raced each other to each ride, giggling at times like children as we yelled on the roller coasters, splashed each other on the water rides, and just had a wonderful time celebrating life and our blossoming attraction.

The only scary moment of the day was when a guy that was there with his pretty-boy friends made an unwise remark. "Damn, why is that hot daddy with that fat slob." I was prepared to let it go -- I was having much too good a day, although the insult hurt, of course. Ken was not about to let it go.

We had hardly passed them buy after the remark was made, when I felt Ken push the large stuffed bear he had won for me in a carnival game into my arms, and he was off.

"Ken -- NO! Let it go!" I yelled, but I was too late. Ken had already yanked the poor kid off his feet and was almost ready to rip the smart mouth apart, when I got to him and got his attention. "Ken, please. Let him go -- he's just a kid, damnit. " Ken put the kid down, and said, "I just wanted to adjust his attitude, that's all." I could tell by Ken's dark expression he was close to adjusting the kid's face instead. "C'mon handsome, let's go ride on a dark ride -- I am in a kissing mood!" Ken stepped away from the kid as I said, "You okay, kid?" He nodded, and looked like he was about to faint. His friends were obviously not prepared to back his stupid remark up, and had moved back a safe distance. I motioned one of his buddies over and handed him a ten spot, and told him to go buy his buddy a beer, and Ken and I moved on.

"Ken, I've had to deal with that all my life. Don't do that unless I'm in real danger, ok?" "Paul, I'm sorry. I guess I lost my head. Forgive?" He nuzzled me with that beard in my neck that gives me chill bumps. "Of course, handsome. Just make sure if you are going to commit police brutality it's somebody straight and deserving, ok?" "Yes Sir!" He snapped too and gave me a crazy salute with crossed eyes and his tongue sticking out on one side, and grabbed my hand and said, "Let's go ride the Wave Swinger!"

Off we went, hand in hand towards the other side of the park, as the afternoon sun's westward slide caused the shadows of the trees to get longer, and the park lights began to snap on for the evening.

We stopped along the pathway at yet another goofy souvenir stand, and while I perused all the schlock I didn't have a need for, Ken slipped away to find me a gift. I knew it wouldn't he wouldn't be long, so I decided to try to one-up him, and found a pair of those glasses with the eyeballs that are on slinky-type springs, and a squirting flower badge.

Ken sidled up to me, and playfully yanked at my shorts, while in the other hand he held a purple velvet box. "Open it," he said. "Is something going to jump out at me?" "C'mon `fraidy cat, open it!" He was enjoying taunting me, while he was also trying to peek into my bag to see what I had purchased.

I clutched my paper bag away from him, while I opened the box slowly. Inside the bag was a beautiful unique ring -- two small bears in an embrace, and I immediately knew it didn't come from the park. "Ken, where did you get this?" "For me to know and you to guess until I give in and tell you -- kiss me." With an invitation like that, how could I turn him down? I kissed him eagerly, and passionately. For a moment, it seemed like the world went away, there was only Ken and I, kissing in an embrace exclusive to the world. I came back to reality when I heard some jealous queer hiss "Gawd, get a room!"

Ken's smile and dancing eyes had me intoxicated.

I only knew one thing to do. "Close your eyes" He closed them, and I turned around, put on my goofy glasses, and my squirting flower, and then faced my handsome cop. "Okay, open `em!" Ken cracked up laughing at the glasses, until I squirted him in the snoot, and charged off laughing like a hyena!

"I'm gonna get you for that, babe!" He laughed as he chased me around the benches, and I let him catch me. It was a fast breathing, laugh filled kiss that made my heart sing. Ken took my hand, looked me in the eye, and slid the ring onto my finger. "Be mine?" he said.

"I thought you'd never ask!" I replied, with a single tear of joy sliding down my cheek.
