Ma's Thought's

She chuckled to herself as she watched the two boys leave the drive way. To be that age and In love. She remembered back in her days, she had loved going out and having fun. And to be able to spend time with that special someone. She could see the gleam in Jason's eye's. They seemed to glow every time he got near him.

It worried her that his feeling's were so strong. His Pa would come apart if he knew. He didn't seem to catch on. And he didn't mention it when they talked. It always seemed if anything was on his mind he would bring it up. She had to protect Jason. And she would do whatever was needed to do just that.

She had already thought about ways to help him along. She didn't wanna get in his way. But just show her love and support. And be there for him, when he needed someone to talk to. And be a part of his life. He was her only son. She wouldn't have this chance ever again.

She had to admit that she didn't know much about this lifestyle. And she really didn't understand it. She just knew love when she saw it. And she could tell it was there between the two. Something a couple of weeks ago had happened between the two. She had seen the way they were acting towards eachother. Jason had seemed uptight. Avoiding Shawn when he was around. She couldn't understand what it had been. And she wanted to tell Jason she had know how he felt about Shawn. But she just couldn't find the way to bring it up. When Shawn had been in the hospitol she had seen the look of worry on Jason's face. And the day he found out, her chance came.

She had set in the chair, thinking of a way to let him know. And when he awoke she got it across to him. She saw the tears in his eye's. And knew the time had came. It was a bond from a mother to her son. Both understanding how each had felt. And a sharing of feeling like no other. She was proud of her son, that he could love another so deep. That he felt this way towards Shawn. And she wanted him t o know that it was right with her. That she would accept it. And she had known how he felt.

The day of their visit she could see they needed some time alone. That they needed to talk and get things right again. She could see the sadness on Shawns face. And the tears wanting to escape his eye's. He held them back, affraid she wouldn't understand. She had exscused herself and left the room.

Walking down the hall her own tears began to flow.

When she came back to the room they were all smile's. They had worked out what ever problems they might have had. She exscused herself again and gave them time to say their goodbye's. On the way home Jason haden't said a word. Just kept to himself and stared out the window. She knew he had been thinking about things. And she left him to himself.

The weeks flew by and she had been keeping up with Shawn's mother. Shawn had been let out, and was planing on coming over the day of Jason's BirthDay.

He had talked to her and asked if it was alright if he took him out. A night's stay over was in the plan. It kind of made her worry a bit when she thought about it. But knew the boys would be ok. So she had talked to his Pa, when she brought it up he didn't question it much. So she called to let him know it would be ok.

The day had arrived. And Jason was still in his room. He haden't came down for breakfast yet. She had fixed his favorite. After a few more minutes he came down. His face beaming. She kept her secret to herself and let him eat. When his Pa had spoke to him, she saw the look of fright on his face. It puzzled her. In the last couple of weeks it had seem they had grown apart in a way she couldn't place. She knew why he had wanted to see him in the barn. And kept her face to a slight smile. Not wanting to give it away.

It was a passage into manhood having your own car. And Jason was growing up fast it seemed. His Pa giving him the car just might help clear thing's up between them. Or so she hoped it would. When he had finished he had walked over to the sink. Putting his plate in the sink, and kissing her onher cheek. As he walked outside to the barn she hurried and finished up. Not wanting to miss this. She was waiting on the porch when the door opened and Jason drove out. His face was all smile's. When he had asked her to go along it melted her heart. The ride was nice. He had drove the car along nice and smooth. Missing the gear had caused a racket, but he found it ok. When they were going back to the house she had seen the car pull in. She knew it was Shawn and didn't even need to look at Jason to know a smile was already on his face.

Shawn had told her he would be by. And they both knew it would make Jason happy. When they hugged it hadn't bothered her. She looked over at his Pa and saw his face had changed. She saw the look of wonder on his face. And knew he was thinking of something deep inside. Was he figuring things out? She would know when he spoke to her tonight. They always talked late in the eveing and she knew tonight would be no diffent.

When Jason had opened the box his face lit up when he saw the new clothe's. She had talked to Shawn and told him the size's to get. When they took off towards the house she had looked again at her husband and saw the look cross his face once again.

She was inside cleaning in the kitchen when he came to her. He asked her if she didn't think things were strange between the two. How they acted towards eachother, and the hugs. He had the same look on his face again. She swallowed hard and looked at him in the eye's. I haven't noticed anything, she lied. Just two firend's who seem to care about eachother.

I could swear the week's before the wreck, that they didn't speak to eachother much. Sort of like they had been upset at eachother he said. And now it seem's like they are the best of friend's. Maybe even closer in a way. I don't know where I am getting this from, but it's just a feeling I have. I see it in Jason's eye's when he looks at Shawn. Sort of a dreamy look in a way.

Well Im sure it's just in your head. They are close to eachother, that's all Im sure it is. And when Shawn's wreck happend, it just brought them closer toghether. They have been close all the years they have worked together. You have seen yourself how well they get along. Working side by side. Her mind was racing. She had to get it out of his head. Slapping him with her towel, she kissed him. And sent him on his way.

She heard them coming down the stair's, then heard yelling outside. She rushed out the door and Jason and his Pa was laying on the ground. He had ran out and slammed into him. Shawn was close behind. They were all laughing except Pa. He had a look of madness across his face. After Jason had been chewed out Shawn had helped him to his feet. She noticed Shawn started to brush him off. Jason quickly moved his hand out of the way. She haden't noticed if Pa had seen.

She watched as the two drove out. She kept her eye on the car and had noticed Jason moving closer in the seat towards Shawn. Turning she walked into the house. This was going to be rough. How was she going to keep this a secret. With the way the two were acting towards eachother. She wiped her hand's off, shaking her head started working.
