Disclaimer: I guess I'll probably stop doing these soon...but one more time! I know virtually nothing about Nsync save for some of the their songs, and maybe a few little novelty things. So it'd be insane for me to even hope that Lance would give me the time of day, let alone spend special time with me. LOL!!!...but that doesn't mean I can't pretend. In any case... Without further delay....
Through the Time Warp (My adventure with Nsync) Chapter 5
As the breaking down process ended we arrived at the van once again. I was holding up Lee the best I could...then he started floating. Everyone was there. Jerry saw Lee's blood and started screaming. Everyone touched Lee.
"Lee please don't leave me now." I pleaded.
"Hold on you can make it." Chris pleaded.
"Be strong for us." Joey asked.
"Lee you're my best friend!" Jerry cried.
"Man, what happened to him?" Josh asked.
"We got to get him some help." Justin said.
Soon we all started to fade away again. This time we all arrived in the same place. Lee wasn't breathing anymore. I was so worried. As if some miracle we appeared right in front of a hospital. Or at least I hoped it was. It had a Red Cross on the top of the building.
"Come on let's get him in there." Joey said helping me carry Lee into the building.
A nurse spotted us as we walked through the door. She quickly led us to a room to lay him down. She was saying something, but I don't remember what it was. The next several hours are a blur to me. I know I held Lee's hand while a doctor worked on him for hours.
"How is he?" Josh asked.
"They saved his life somehow. But he's still very weak. They said it could be a couple days before he would wake up. He's lucky to be alive." I said. I had cried so much over the last few hours that I didn't have any more to give. It's so strange. I've only known him for a few days, but Lee had changed my life completely. I couldn't imagine life without him.
"He's going to be okay man." Josh said giving me a hug.
"I know. He has to be. I need him." I confessed.
"I can understand that. This whole situation is bringing us all closer." Josh said.
"How is Jerry holding up?" I asked.
"He's doing better. I finally convinced him to get some sleep. I guess I better get back before he wakes up. I'll make sure to tell him Lee's going to be okay." Josh said smiling at me.
I guess our relationship wasn't the only one starting to bloom. I ran my hand through Lee's brown hair, and wished he was well enough for just one long kiss. Part of me wished that this trip through time never ends...how else can I get to be with Lee? But another part of me realized that no matter what. I'd find a way to make it work.
I stayed with Lee through the first night. Jerry showed up with Josh the next morning. They insisted that I go and get some sleep. So after a lot of pleading I gave in and took off for the house they had been staying in. Apparently some woman named Jena had offered the guys a place to stay. It was very kind of her. I guess people are more friendly in this time period than the last. Josh informed me that we are in the year 2210. But I was quickly loosing interest in facts like that. It looked like we would be sticking around in this time period longer than the other time periods though. We couldn't move again till Lee was well. I'm just glad that medical care is free here! I have no idea how we would have paid otherwise.
"How's Lee?" Joey asked as I entered the house.
"He's going to be okay. I really need some sleep." I said as I walked towards one of the bedrooms.
"I'm glad to hear your friend is all right." The woman said that we were going to be staying with.
"Thanks so much. What's your name? I'm afraid we haven't been introduced." I said.
"Oh, my name is Mary. It's awful what happened to your friend. I thought all that gun violence was over years ago...I read about it in history books, but to experience something like this in person is quite unnerving." Mary said.
"I know exactly how you feel. Thanks so much for letting us stay here." I stated while smiling at her.
"Not a problem, it's nice to have company. Feel free to stay as long as you need." She said as I excused myself.
I tossed and turned for a while, but soon I was sound asleep.
That day and night Jerry set by Lee's bedside while Lance rested. Josh stayed by his side to keep him company, and he didn't want to be without him. Josh really cared for Jerry a lot.
"So how long do you think he'll be out for?" Josh asked.
"Knowing Lee, not very long. He'll want to get back to Lance as soon as possible. I can't believe we both found our dream men at the same time." Jerry said smiling at Josh.
"I don't know about dream men, but we are both very lucky to have you guys. You're a great friend Jerry. You have been so devoted to Lee, and it shows that I was right in assuming you were the one for me. It's been a long time since I've given my heart to anyone, but I'm willing to try for you." Josh said.
"Josh, that was so sweet. Thank you." Jerry kissed him softly on the lips.
"So what do you want to watch?" Josh asked flipping through the TV.
"I have no idea. What shows come on in this time period?" Jerry asked.
"Well, there are some music videos on this channel. I don't know any of the guys of course...but it should do don't you think?" He asked.
"Sure why not, It sounds okay. Pretty different from the music we know though." Jerry said.
"Well, music like people is always changing to keep up with the times. And this is a beautiful place isn't it?" Josh asked.
"Yes, but only because your here with me." Jerry said smiling at him.
Jerry and J.C. had a small kiss, and then Jerry began to pray for Lee once more. For a minute he pondered if God saw all times at the same instant, or did he change with time too. He was told all his life that God was the same today as yesterday, but it was an awesome concept. After all, everything else changes. Jerry didn't have all those answers yet, but he knew that God heard his prayers, because suddenly Lee smiled for him. *********
"How is your friend doing?" Mary asked Justin.
"Well, to be honest I don't know if we are friends. But anyway...He's doing better I think. Last I heard he was still in a coma though." Justin told her.
"For someone so young, your not filled with much joy Justin. Anger and pride is for the weak, don't let it be your downfall." Mary said.
"What gives you the right to talk that way? You don't even know me." Justin said staring at her with angry eyes.
"Oh I know you well enough Justin. You're a typical star. I don't know you in person, but I know you think your better than me. But you're not. You're just another pretty face on the street. And if you don't change with the times, you'll die." Mary told him.
"And so you're going to be the one to change me?" He asked her.
"No, I'm just the one that loves you even though I shouldn't." She said as she kissed Justin. Soon the anger flowed out of him as he started to return the kiss.
"That was the best kiss I've ever had." Justin said in amazement.
"Good, now I hope you will listen better." Mary said with a half smile.
"Yeah, I'm listening." Said an excited Justin.
I woke up with a headache from hell and a lot of pain in my side. I wasn't sure where I was, and it scared me a lot. I noticed that someone was holding my hand, but my eyes just couldn't focus well enough to see anything.
"Hel..lo" I tried to get out of my mouth. My voice was so low I doubt anyone heard me.
"Lee did you say something?" Lance said looking at me.
"Lance, is tha, is it you?" I said.
"Yeah, it's me baby. I'm so glad that you're awake. I was so scared." Lance said kissing my forehead.
"Where am I?" I asked starting to get my voice back.
"You are in a hospital in Alabama. It's the year 2210. Do you remember what happened?" Lance asked.
"I can't hardly talk Lance, water please." I asked.
Soon Lance poured me a glass of water. But he had to check with the nurse before he could give it to me. After her approval I started drinking it slowly. At first it burned my dry throat, but soon it started to revive my voice, and soothe the pain in my throat.
"Thanks Lance. I really needed that. Now where were we?" I asked.
"What do you remember?" He asked me.
I paused for a moment, and made sure the nurse was gone far enough out of earshot. I didn't really feel like explaining any of it to her. "Well, I remember Joey screaming something, about me being shot I think. And then I looked down and saw that I was bleeding. I passed out at that point. I don't remember anything else.
"That's all you remember. There's a lot more to it than that dear." Lance said.
"How long have I been sleeping?" I asked him.
"You've been out for 3 days. I was starting to wonder if you were going to wake up. I was so worried." Lance said.
"So what else happened after that." I asked.
"I found the red jewel in your pocket and used it to time shift, and then we managed to get you to this hospital. Everyone is here. They all managed to touch your body before the time shift finished." Lance explained.
"Oh, that means Jerry is here?" I asked cheerfully.
"He's asleep right now. He stayed with you last night, and I took over this morning." Lance told me.
"Oh, I see. Well, I'll be glad to see him again. I've been so worried about everyone. I'm glad my near death brought something good." I said.
"Yes, it did I suppose." Lance said.
"So now I know the whole story?" I asked Lance.
"No. I can't believe you don't remember what happened before that." Lance said.
"Well, I don't...your going to have to tell me." I told him.
"Let's see we were cuddling and sleeping peacefully when that guy came in and started screaming. He said he was going to kill us. It woke us both up, and he shot his rifle straight at me. But you threw yourself in front of me. You saved my life Lee." Lance told me.
"But how can that be...wouldn't I have remembered doing that?" I asked him.
"Not exactly...the doctor said you might have some memory loss." Joey said walking into the room. "Sorry I didn't mean to ease drop, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't interrupting anything." Joey explained.
"That's okay man. Please come on in." I told him.
"Lance is right. You saved his life! That was all the more reason I nearly killed that man. He shot you, and you did nothing to him. All you wanted to do was save Lance. Lee we all owe you so much. Thank you for being our friend." Joey told me.
I started crying. I never thought I'd save anyone's life with my own. But it was worth it all. I was glad I didn't remember it though. It had to be very intense, and was probably the reason I blocked it out. I believed what they said though. And I knew it was something I would have done.
"Well, how much damage was done? When will I be able to leave?" I asked.
"The doctor said the damage was pretty bad, but apparently the medical practice is very good here. They managed to patch you all up. Your body just needed time to rest. You can leave whenever you want." Lance told me.
"I think I better rest tonight at least." I told them.
"I agree. Tomorrow we'll help you go to see the others though." Joey said.
"That'll be great. Do you think you could send Jerry over later on?" I asked him.
"Sure I can, that's an easy request. But Josh will probably come with him. They are kind of stuck on each other." Joey said with a big smile.
"You are kidding me right? Jerry and Josh are together! That's really cool. Jerry always liked him best." I said.
"I guess Josh felt the same way. Well, anyway...I guess you two need a few minutes to yourself, so I'm going to go let everyone know your awake. I'll try to keep them from mobbing you yet though." Joey said giving me a hug as he left.
"I'm glad to be back. Now how about that kiss you talked about the other day?" I asked.
"How do you know about that?" Lance asked.
"I was asleep, but I heard the important things." I said as Lance leaned over and we shared our best kiss yet.
"So do you think the red jewel will work to get us out of this time period?" Lance asked me.
"I don't know, but I think it's a good idea to look around before we leave. We were probably brought to this time for some reason." I told him.
"Oh by the way, Josh found an orange Jewel that looks just like ours." Lance told me.
"Cool. I knew there were more of them." I said.
"How many do you think there are?" Lance asked.
"Oh I don't know, but I think finding them all is important to finding our way home." I told him.
"Could be. The time warp does seem to respond to them." Lance said.
"That's exactly what I mean. They are definitely our ticket home." I predicted.
That evening Jerry and Josh came to see me, and we talked over all the things that have been going on. Jerry told me all about the trip to the colonies, and the boat in the middle of no where. It seems like one group was in the past, and one in the future at all times. But now we were both in the future. I wondered if that would through something out of balance. I guess not though, because if there was some problem with it, something would have happened by now.
But my guess was that we'd be going to the past next. Only time would show if I was right or not. But I was convinced that every stop had been for some purpose. Oddly my last stop was to get shot. My death brought us back together, and my life...I hope it will make us a family.
"So what's the plan after we get you out of here?" Josh asked.
"I want to meet this Mary that was kind enough to take this bunch in. She must be going crazy." I joked.
"Actually, She seems to have hit it off with Justin. I'm not sure how it happened though. All I know was last night; they shared the same room!" Josh told me.
"Wow! Not only is he an ass, he's also fast." I said instantly regretting what I said.
"That's funny man, what's a matter? Oh don't worry about it, we all know Justin's a jerk at times. And you are one of the family now. You're free to talk about him if you want to. Everything will be cool just as long as you aren't taking it too far of course." Josh informed me.
"I never would do anything to offend you guys on purpose. And thanks for including me in your family. It's nice to know I have 4 new brothers to count on." I said.
"You say four, because the fifth is your boyfriend, right?" Jerry asked.
"Yes, I think that would be a correct statement, wouldn't you Lance?" I asked him.
He just smiled at me and kissed me again. He's really good at that! We spent the rest of the evening talking about all the stuff that had happened. Between us no one could come up with a single reason why we fell into the time warp. But we all agreed that we needed to find a way home as soon as possible. After all, I got two concerts to enjoy, and the boys have to perform in them!
At that moment I realized again that I had no idea what life would be like when we did make it back home. Would Lance and I be able to make it with all the Nsync stuff going on? I knew one thing...I was in love with Lance...and I was going to do what I could to make sure that we stayed together. There was no doubt in my mind that he felt the same way.
The next morning I finally got out of bed. I felt strangely energetic. Like I was granted a second child hood almost. I felt better than I had in years. The world seemed so beautiful as I walked around the room. I wanted to go outside, so I walked to the nurse's desk and signed a couple papers, and was soon granted leave. I had made Lance promise to go home and sleep that night. I felt guilty about keeping him up. So, this morning I was on my own when I left the hospital. They had given me the directions to house and even the address so I could teleport there. But I think Lance really wanted to come get me later on this morning. Myself I wanted to get some fresh air, and the walk to Mary's was just what I needed.
The air was so fresh, and the clouds were fluffy and white. The sun shown so bright, I thought I'd have to cover my eyes. I believe it was the most beautiful morning I had ever seen, or ever would. It was only a short walk to Mary's house, and all too soon I was there.
I knocked on the door and was greeted by Lance. "Honey! I was just about to come get you. You're walking already?" Lance asked.
"You bet I actually feel better than ever. Not saying I want to ever get shot again, but I really do fell great." I told him.
"It's probably the doctor you had. He's an expert in medical treatments of all kinds." A kindly looking woman said. I assumed she was Mary.
"Hello, you must be Mary?" I asked as they lead me into the house. They asked me to take a seat on the couch, and I did though I wasn't tired yet.
"Yes, my name is Mary. Your friends have told me a lot about you. It seems your very lucky to have survived that gun wound. Where in the world did that crazy man find a gun at anyway?" She asked.
"I don't know. It's a mystery to me." I said not really knowing how to answer her.
"So when will you fellows be leaving?" Mary asked.
"I think we'll be heading out this evening." I told her.
"Are you sure you are ready for that?" Lance asked with concern
"Yes, I'm more than ready! I feel fine honestly." I restated.
"Sounds good. We'll leave this evening." Jerry said as everyone starting pilling into the living room.
"Listen guys you can go if you want to, but I'm staying here with Mary." Justin said.
"What do you mean your staying?" Chris asked in shock.
"I love Mary and I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying!" Justin announced.
To be continued
