Stefan's mind went blank. He felt the adrenaline surge through his body as it slipped into 'flight or fight' mode. But he couldn't fight Mr. Saltzman, he wasn't hurting him. But if he knew about Stefan's secret, then he was in deep trouble. He might just have to kill him. The thought of killing the older man sent chills through his spine. Stefan wondered that if he knew, how much he knew. Either way Stefan was in deep trouble.
"Are you a vampire?", Stefan blurted.
Alaric laughed, "Me?! A vampire?!", he asked in disbelief. "No, Stefan! I'm not a vampire!" he told shaking his head looking deep into Stefan eyes.
Obviously, he couldn't be a vampire. Unless he was recently made on. Could be a human, one of those who were aware that vampires very much existed in this world. "Then you're a human?", Stefan asked as soon as he thought.
"Very much!", he responded once again with the same easy smile.
"How do you know?", Stefan asked.
"I've been on the chase of a very specific vampire!", Alaric responded letting go of Stefan's wrist. "The vampire who killed my wife!", he completed. Stefan felt his heart lurch. Loosing a loved one is a terrible pain, and the fact that he couldn't explain it to anyone how his wife died was even worse. "It has given me enough knowledge about your kind." he spoke angrily. The spite in his voice when said 'kind', was clearly visible.
"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry!", Stefan whispered, giving his shoulders a gentle squeeze.
"Don't be! If you want to feel sorry for anyone, feel it for the fool who did it!", Alaric growled the second half of the sentence. Stefan crept closer and kissed him. He never felt closer to anymore more than now. He too had lost people close to him. He also felt admiration for the courage this man possessed. Clearly being a human, he had the disadvantage of inferior strength, speed and endurance but it had not slowed down his passion for the kill.
Alaric responded to Stefan's kiss and pulled him closer. The two were very much intertwined, and they would have continued their act if Stefan's acute sense of hearing detected some people approaching. He quickly withdrew from Mr. Saltzman, "Someone's coming!" he reasoned.
Alaric straightened up and fixed his hair as Stefan picked up his bag and slid it over his broad shoulders. "I'll catch you later!", Stefan murmured. Alaric nodded in response. He began walking towards the door, but before he could reach it the door opened and the principal entered along with Tyler Lockwood. Stefan decided to stay for the show. The principal was clearly mad and was scolding Tyler about how he would be in detention along with his grandchildren. Stefan had to suppress a strong desire to giggle. Tyler wasn't looking at the principal, but he did throw Stefan a look of disgust and then, he smiled. He's flipped, Stefan thought.
Tyler collected his bag as the Principal hovered over him and when he was done, he grabbed him and took him back to his office scolding all the way of how he had no regard of rules and regulation and how much his parents would be disappointed with him. He doesn't care, Stefan thought.
"Stefan!", Alaric piped. Stefan turned towards him in response. "Did you have anything to do with Tyler skipping detention?", he asked.
Stefan smiled in response, but didn't say anything. "Are you going to turn me in?", he asked.
"No! But I am going to punish you myself!", Alaric responded and leaned in for a kiss. As he kissed Stefan, he squeezed his left ass cheek through his jeans. Stefan threw his arms around Alaric and kissed him passionately. This felt better than anything had in the last 100 something years of his dead life.
Tyler drove in his car to his friend's Matt. He knew only Matt won't be screaming his head off at him right now. His douchebag of a principle had phoned his parents and they had ordered him to come straight home. As expected he received a lecture of how he is not aware of his responsibilities and he doesn't care about the importance of the respect his parents have in this town. Tyler listened to it with his lips constantly twitching, he wanted to tell his parents what had happened at detention but they knew he wouldn't believe him. Funny thing was, if somebody else was telling this to him, he won't believe them as well. Once they had stopped screaming, he walked up stairs jumped down from his window and skipped to his car. He needed to talk to someone right now, who won't judge him or correct him. And there was only one person who didn't do any of those things; Matt Donovan.
As his car screeched into the drive-way, Matt opened the door. He only let Tyler and Elena park in his drive-way. Anybody else would simply have to park somewhere else. Matt opened the door and saw a very sober Tyler. He had expected him to be drunk, because that is what normally Tyler was when he stopped by his place. Stinking drunk, so that his parents would not find out. He would stay in for the night and then leave in the morning. It had happened more times than Matt could remember.
He dragged himself to the couch and collapsed. "Bad day?", Matt asked.
"The worst", Tyler mumbled with his eyes closed.
"Care to tell me about it?", Matt volunteered as he tossed Tyler a beer.
"I would! But I'm not sure you would believe it!", Tyler said. His voice was soaked in sarcasm that stung. But Matt was his friend, he didn't give it a second thought.
"Try me!", Matt poked.
Tyler took a sip of his beer and looked up to Matt who was sitting on a bar stool across the room. Clearly Matt wasn't willing to let go off a situation, he bit his lips as he thought about telling Matt about his frigg'in weird day. But partly he was not believing it himself. With a huge sigh and a sip of beer, he began recounting what happened today.
By the time he had finished Matt had changed position from behind the counter to sitting on the couch with Tyler's head in his laps. As the last words escaped his lips, Matt bent down and kissed Tyler. Tyler took sometime to respond, with a caressing hands he rippled through Matt's hair and pushed his lips closer. The tongues intertwined and testosterone scaled as the two boys explored eachother's mouth. This had not been the first time this had happened, but it felt better with each progressing moment. Matt and Tyler shared a secret relationship that they had hidden from the entire world and they knew for it to survive it must be kept this way. It was their dirty little secret.
